calpop · 18/10/2018 09:22

Has anyone noticed that a certain Labour Party womens officer seems to have quietly stopped being one?

As predicted, experienced and observerd by may who are older and wiser, gone to Uni, grown up a bit, and realized what a tit they've been?

Good luck to them, I think they must have a modicum of political skill and enthusiasm to get this far.

It would be nice to think so, but I doubt it. I speak as someone who has been quite active in Labour Party politics in the past, and the truth is most of the time nobody wants to do those local official jobs - constituency chair, treasurer, women's officer etc. They're unpaid, they take up a lot of time, you have to go to endless meetings and often people give you aggro. If anyone shows a sign of wanting to do them, everyone else falls at their feet in gratitude.

Having read what Madigan says for themselves on Twitter, they seem to be singularly lacking in intelligence and personability. I would like to say that was a contraindication for a career in politics but then I look at some of the shadow front bench and I'm not so sure.

I don't think anyone who regularly swears and abuses women on Twitter has any chance of becoming an MP.

Dhalandchips · 18/10/2018 12:57

@calpop I'm getting there, bear with me Confused

LaundryLaundryLaundry · 18/10/2018 13:00

Yes, but if they still identify as a resident of Rochester...

OlennasWimple · 18/10/2018 13:11

Interesting

Wikipedia describes LM as the "former women's officer". LM has also protected their tweets, so only followers can see them. And LM's personal website hasn't been updated in months and bits seem to be broken / down for maintenance

Dhalandchips · 18/10/2018 13:13

Hold on! Another possible detail here but 'NON MEN'??? WTAF from the green party???

littlbrowndog · 18/10/2018 13:17

Dhal and chips
Stop with that name now 😂
Am starving and I could eat that now
Slight derail 😮

OlennasWimple · 18/10/2018 13:19

Ah, Dhal, welcome to the coven

If you find a political party that does actually give a fuck about women, please can you let us all know? There are lots of politically homeless women on here, looking for somewhere

Depressing, isn't it?

Datun · 18/10/2018 13:29

I hope Madigan is no longer a woman's officer.

The fact they haven't makes an announcement makes me wonder whether someone has had a quiet chat, finally.

It will be interesting to see how lesbian and gay men take to a male bodied person, in a relationship with a woman, talking on behalf of them, instead of talking on behalf of women though.

LM as trans officer rather than women's officer and LM spending more time on real life and less on virtual life both seem like improvements.

ScarletBegonias · 18/10/2018 13:58

Datun - LM was saying on Twitter earlier this month that LM was not a women's officer for Labour. Said it wasn't a job for life but, as I recall, gave no other details.

HollowTalk · 18/10/2018 13:59

Just seen on Lily Madigan's Twitter info that there is a link to PayPal. How cheeky is that?

Datun · 18/10/2018 15:29

Unusual for Madigan to not broadcast every second of their life. I'm of the opinion they were asked to step down. Just an opinion, though.

I'm quite glad, because it was obviously a highly inappropriate position.

We can now not bother speaking about them, ever again.

(Somehow, tho I don't think they will like that).

calpop · 18/10/2018 15:33

I agree Datun, hopefully Pips Bunce will be next. Also, what happened to Jess Bradley in the end, did he everr actually get sacked?

Pay per tweet?

Popchyk · 18/10/2018 15:35

Of course the role is vacant.

Who could follow that?

MonsterSister · 18/10/2018 15:37

Disablist language, at a guess, PerfectPenguin. Cretin is a pretty rude way of referring to someone with thyroid problems (one of the few diagnoses not currently being identified into by various Labour officers, by the way).

OlennasWimple · 18/10/2018 16:37

Hollow - that PayPal link has been there for months and months (along with pleas for "cute clothes" and other stuff entirely unbecoming to a self-professed future MP)

mortgagemoans · 18/10/2018 16:52

LGBT officer is a branch position, women’s officer is a constituency position’ was their reply when asked on thread announcing their appointment as LGBT officer. That sounds like they’re remaining in post as Woman’s Officer? Who knows. I agree that being an LGBT officer is perfect for them. A good fit and suits all the Teen /Puma stuff they’re heavily involved in which was of very little relevance to their role as Rochester’s Women’s Officer.

HollowTalk · 18/10/2018 18:55

I hadn't noticed the PayPal thing before. I find that really shocking.

StillAFeminist · 18/10/2018 19:15

Whilst LM might be fine as a T spokesperson it does rather leave the LGB that aren't also T unrepresented

LangCleg · 18/10/2018 19:26

Brockley isn't a constituency. It's a local council ward.

AngryAttackKittens · 18/10/2018 19:30

Ah, good, I'm not the only one who gets hungry every time I see Dhal's comments.

Meanwhile, although this position is a better fit for LM than the last one I can't imagine them being much good at representing lesbians...
