I cancelled my Vogue subscription when they presented a man as a woman for the 100 years of suffrage edition.

I am debating cancelling tv license.

I no longer use Asos or Topshop or M&S or Ocado or Tesco.

I no longer watch CH4 or BBC news or buy the Guardian.

OP posts:

Ocado and the Labour Party. Also avoid the Guardian now.

About to take out a subscription to the Spectator...

Wardrobehamster · 17/10/2018 16:46

Oh gosh, yes, I have taken out a subscription to the Spectator, I can't believe it has come to this.

starlingsintheslipstream · 17/10/2018 16:52

Ocado
The Guardian
YHA

MonsterSister · 17/10/2018 17:45

Guardian
YHA (I did check their policy on single-sex dorms, they returned a great deal of 'years of experience, welcoming to all' piffle that didn't cover 'Will my teenager daughters be sharing a dorm with male strangers?', so so, the girls can go do something else next summer).

Quite possibly some universities. Will be: asking about shared room policies; checking the loos aren't ALL mixed-sex; having a scan of recent policies on sports and free speech.

Yes, I know it's the DDs' decision, but I do still get asked for advice.

RubyViolet · 17/10/2018 18:07

Wardrobe, l have sent you a PM .

MindTheMinotaur · 17/10/2018 18:14

Labour party, Green party,Ocado, Tescos, Top Shop, the Brownies, Children in Need, Amnesty.

Bought a lot more Birds Eye, and I now buy two Metros Grin . BBC up for renewal this month, I pay the licence fee for Radio 3 but I don't watch TV.....tricky.

FloPen · 17/10/2018 18:14

It would have been the Guardian if I hadn't done it 2 years ago (Cologne NYE) and Labour

EnormousDormouse · 17/10/2018 18:16

Grauniad (after being a loyal, paying reader for over 30 years)
Lib Dems, Labour, Greens (would have happily tactically voted for any but not now)
Amnesty, Oxfam, CIN (for their general attitudes to women and the sex scandals)

My poor little liberal-lefty self has had quite a rough ride re-evaluating my loyalties and values over the last couple of years.
To think I have taken out a paying sub for The Spectator!

theOtherPamAyres · 17/10/2018 20:28

The businesses and charities that took a side in the debate, when they didn't have to.

They helped Stonewall with its last push to get people to come out for trans so-called equality.

They demonstrated that there is power and money behind the erasure of the word 'woman'.

IKeepFlouncing · 17/10/2018 20:55

Birds Eye I have always remained loyal too even through the rocky stages of adjusting to new Captain

Anyone know what the count is on that iPetition Jonny Best started 😉

Fluffychickenmonkey · 17/10/2018 20:57

The Guardian
The Green Party
Stonewall
Caroline Lucas MP

userblablabla · 17/10/2018 21:01

This thread is too funny

SirVixofVixHall · 17/10/2018 21:08

The Guardian, have stopped buying even the Saturday paper and the Observer, after decades of readership.
TopShop. I have a teenage daughter, so it is a shame, but I’m not shopping there while they care so little for girls.
Lush.
The Labour Party, the Green Party, the Lib Dem’s. I only voted LD once, years ago, as I liked the local candidate, but I wouldn’t consider them an option now.
Amnesty. Annoying I have a prior commitment for helping at an Amnesty fundraiser, but after that no more, and I’ve stopped donating.
Children in need.
Vogue.
.

Schnickers · 17/10/2018 21:10

God, yes Vogue. Awful.

scepticalwoman · 17/10/2018 21:13

The Guardian, Labour Party and Stonewall. And refused to get involved in a Children in Need activity recently.

rememberatime · 17/10/2018 21:17

Lush - the very first that came to mind
Ocado
Top Shop
Almost all of the BBC
The Guardian
All mainstream political parties (i have no one to vote for!)
Almost all charities (but mostly for other reasons)

scepticalwoman · 17/10/2018 21:18

IKeepFlouncing
It's 6550 - bloody amazing as judging by the comments, the majority of the signatures are from Stonewall's core contributers.

silentcrow · 17/10/2018 21:33

Lush is the only one that I'm affected by, really, and since Body Shop is no longer under the Nestle empire I can happily switch back. I've gone right off Lush in recent years for other political stances anyway, so its no hardship.

I won't be contributing to CiN. I will "forget" to give dd her £1 for school and make a more substantial donation elsewhere.

I am mighty sad about losing Stripes Books, who endorsed the Stonewall version of the GDA response today. Some great authors work with them. Sadly they are pushing a particular author right now and I can't support a company that publishes someone who says things like "being gay is the consolation prize for not being trans".

IKeepFlouncing · 17/10/2018 22:16

I meant to trawl through stuff but got side tracked, Virgin Media promoting some knob head that i never heard off. Obviously not target market but my kids are of the books my kids won’t be reading that he was promoting at time on behalf of that corrupt mythical sea creature

Honestly unicorns, mermaids and all things wanky unless your under age of 10.

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 17/10/2018 23:57

Oh yes, P&G (Procter & Gamble) will also be on my list to stop buying if it's confirmed that they knew about the link to the consultation (or if they didn't but won't make that clear). Their biggest market is women and parents (typical Mumsnetters in fact) - Always & Tampax, Pampers, several laundry, household and haircare brands, Olay, Gillette... so you would think they might give a damn about our rights.

IdaBWells · 18/10/2018 05:27

I never bought The Guardian but now I don’t bother reading it on line
BBC
Lush
Top Shop (I have three teenagers don’t shop for any of them there anymore)
The main political parties

On a positive note I bought a subscription to The Times.
I am making bigger purchases for a new house and doing my homework on the companies that I am buying from and making sure they support women and girls or at least are not coming out actively against us.
I support local charities and make sure I know where the money is going.
I gave money to the women’s organizations that are mentioned on here a lot.
I bought 3 t-shirts from Posie Parker.

IdaBWells · 18/10/2018 06:06

I forgot that I also took out a subscription to Medium the site for writers because so many gender critical excellent essays and writers are on there.

Mrstwiddle · 18/10/2018 08:32

What did M&S do?

JoanSummers · 18/10/2018 09:32

It's my understanding from my reading on the licence that if I stop watching any TV as it is broadcast, never record anything, and never use Iplayer, I can cancel my tv licence. I can still watch bluray & dvd, play playstation, watch Netflix Amazon Youtube etc, and watch any catch up tv we like (except Iplayer) and still be within the law.

Is this right?

Cos if it is I don't know why I am even paying the licence. I don't want to give the BBC any more of my money and I can manage all of the above easily.
