I cancelled my Vogue subscription when they presented a man as a woman for the 100 years of suffrage edition.

I am debating cancelling tv license.

I no longer use Asos or Topshop or M&S or Ocado or Tesco.

I no longer watch CH4 or BBC news or buy the Guardian.

OP posts:
PenguindreamsofDraco · 17/10/2018 13:22

Lush (although the Rebecca Soposh ones are fantastic)
Ocado
Top Shop when buying presents for godchildren.

On the other hand:
I have taken out a subscription to The Spectator
I now get bath bombs etc from Rebecca Soaposh
I use Waitrose delivery or the local Sainsbury's or the market, so all of these have gained my business as a result.

Johnbowlby · 17/10/2018 13:25

Ocado
Top shop
Lush
Lib Dems

Pamspeople · 17/10/2018 13:25

Labour Party
Guardian, used to be a supporter (monthly donation) - cancelled it

Pamspeople · 17/10/2018 13:27

Oh yes, will stop donating to Wikipedia

pennydrew · 17/10/2018 13:34

Instead of LUSH, I use Hedge Wych, a small business run by a woman, Zoe I think. We LOVE her products. It appears she’s taking a break or updating the site here at the mo, but bookmark it for later. Lush sucks compared to her stuff:

2rebecca · 17/10/2018 13:35

lush, the guardian, oxfam, children in need, I listen to the BBC much less, the Scottish green Party, Lib Dems (were usually my 2nd vote if no SGP), the SNP who I voted for in the Westminster election. I have less respect for the police with them pushing all this hate crime nonsense rather than focussing on actual crime.

2rebecca · 17/10/2018 13:40

I have taken out times and spectator subscriptions and listen to JHB on Talk radio on a morning. If David Davies were my MP I'd vote for him despite never having voted Tory before, will be probably emailing candidates of future elections to find out where they stand on women's rights.

Schnickers · 17/10/2018 13:42

Lush and topshop - even my teen dds are on side with those
Ocado
Labour and will actually join the conservatives if they vote against self id
The guardian - now have a digital sub to the times

Penny1976 · 17/10/2018 13:44

The Labour Party

Ocado, Top Shop, M&S and Lush.

The Guardian

The BBC and Channel 4.

ContessasGulagSpaDay · 17/10/2018 13:45

The Guardian, the Labour Party, the Green Party, then Women's Equality Party....

ICantFindAFreeNickName2 · 17/10/2018 13:50

Tesco - just cancelled my weekend delivery & emailed the ceo. Have Waitrose or Sainsburys supported self-id or am I ok to shop with them ?

JoanSummers · 17/10/2018 14:03

Lush, The Guardian, Labour, Lib Dems (voted for both at different times in the past, and sway between them). NSPCC, Children In Need, Stonewall, anything Pride related. Any event or org which says it accepts self defining women, which is quite a bit these days. Several feminist or womens groupd, organisations and blogs inc the f word and back in the day I Blame The Patriarchy etc. Lost respect for countless women journalists etc. Several films and actors I steer clear of so obv won't pay to see. I would withdraw payment of tv licence if I could and I have no respect for the BBC any more. Can't think what else. Anything that I become aware of as promoting the trans agenda.

I wonder how many other women are missing from local events and esp "women's" or feminist events and groups bc they have chosen to advertise as for self defining women? Essentially we are excluded bc we don't want men in those spaces.

JoanSummers · 17/10/2018 14:08

Tbf some of the orgs in this thread I would not support anyway or stopped supporting partly due to tbe trans issue and partly due to their support for sexual slavery and exploitation of women in prostitution, e.g. Lib Dems, allegedly feminist or leftie groups that use the term 'sex work' uncritically, Amnesty, etc.

Bowlofbabelfish · 17/10/2018 14:10

I have no problem with a company saying they support people who are trans. what I have a problem with is anti-woman ideologies.

So an ad saying ‘hey trans customers we love you’ is fine. A company who actively denigrate or harm women, or who support initiatives and policies that do - them I boycott. That includes unisex changing rooms or anyone supporting Self ID.

chewingpencils · 17/10/2018 14:15

Ocado. Then Guardian, Labour, and in decreasing order Greens and Lib Dems.

JoanSummers · 17/10/2018 14:16

Also interested in what Tesco did as quite a bit of our shopping is done there. I would be happy to switch if they are supporting misogyny instead of women.

FatherBuzzCagney · 17/10/2018 14:22

Ocado. Have already been avoiding Tesco for the best part of 20 years because of all the other ways that they're twats.

HedgehogPoo · 17/10/2018 14:22

This link is a list of companies, organisations, banks etc that apparently agree with the TRAs against the FPFW stance and advert in the Metro.
The list is very revealing and includes the usual suspects as well as new ones, although they may not have been fully aware of what hey are agreeing to.

JoanSummers · 17/10/2018 14:32

I suspect a good proportion of those names didn't know what this ad was about other than general liberal live and let liveness. Most orgs would stay out of a political argument like this, sit on the fence and not risk customers.

My guess is they're either general supporters of Stonewall who has used their names without asking in this specific ad, or they have been misled.

I think Stonewall could get into trouble over that tbh. I hope so.

RubyViolet · 17/10/2018 14:45

Ocado, The Guardian and Observer, Children In Need, Stonewall. Still debating cancelling my Labour Party membership. I am discussing this with other GC local female members who feel as let down as l do. I think l have to do it, it’s painful.

pennydrew · 17/10/2018 14:53

Yeah I think it’s important we clarify directly to with those in the ad. I’ve already contacted ASOS.

GraceTheDisgrace · 17/10/2018 14:55

I completely misunderstood the title of this thread. As the owner of a small business, I do live in fear of losing my business as a result of all this. I have seen what TRA social media attacks can do.

On topic, I was a devoted M&S shopper for as long as I can remember. No more.

Wardrobehamster · 17/10/2018 15:00

Hi Ruby, I am a GC Labour Party member but don't know where or who in my local party to go to to discuss this. I've somehow managed to get on to the local Labour party mailing list, as a result I promised to deliver some anti Universal Credit leaflets for them.

I have not contacted my MP yet even as they are too much part of the community-people I know, know them privately and I don't want to put myself in a position where they think I am a bigot.

Your username makes me think that your'e local, which is exiting, or a coincidence. Maximoomoo. I'm really aware of not wanting to put someone in an awkward position but if you are local and Labour would you mind if I PMd you?

Anyway, to answer the question. I am an original Cosmetics To Go user and a real Lushie, but I will no longer be able to buy my Dream Cream! Sob.

wingwarbler · 17/10/2018 15:19

As above.

I really like the idea of boycotting the BBC too. Could make a huge dent if there was a mass cancelling of TV licences.

They have proved that they cannot be trusted not to be immune to outside lobbying or commercial interests which is one of the main arguments for having the licence fee. Though it looks like they have been got at from within too.

According to this TV licence page there are 25 million licences in force, including students and multiple licences etc.

How many losses would it take to seriously unnerve them?
