Just spotted (and complained) about this gem:
www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-4583802

Casual dismissal of Fair Play for Women as "anti trans" is staggering and offensive. {lease join me and fire off a complaint.

OP posts:
rightreckoner · 17/10/2018 07:53

I’ve submitted my complaint to the BBC. This is becoming almost a daily task with the bbc. Interesting that the Guardian are starting to publish a broader range of views - not because they get it but to deflect accusations of bias. BBC still old school Orwellian.

Serfisafleur · 17/10/2018 07:57

Rory is in the early stages of applying for a birth certificate (or Gender Recognition Certificate, as the government refers to it online) that recognises his transgender identity
From the article.
No, it doesn't it it hides the fact someone is Transgender by providing a new birth certificate with a lie on it. If it recognised your trans status your certificate would say "transman".

Angryresister · 17/10/2018 07:57

Lower down on the page there are links to other articles all very Trans positive. There is one linking to a funded flat for young Trans people, bizarrely having dog accessories added to their faces plus the usual pretty hair dos etc. However the fact that they have funding for separate facilities and see this as positive an only be a good thing. If it's important for them it's important for us. Seems a better way to go.

Badstyley · 17/10/2018 08:10

That is a staggeringly biased article. I haven’t got time to fire off a stinker to the BBC atm but I’ll try and do it later.

Redkeyboard · 17/10/2018 08:13

That is truly embarrassing for the BBC.

Many legal experts say self-ID would negatively affect women. A barrister laid out the reasons why in The House of Lords yesterday.

The Lesbian Rights Alliance day there’s an impact

Professionals in refuges self-ID would mean they couldn’t offer single sex spaces

Academics agree

Many politicians have concerns.

Over half of politicians are too afraid to talk about it.

Even Penny bloody Mordaunt has said women have legitimate concerns.

BBC article has no analysis or even acknowledgement of any of this.

ILuvBirdsEye · 17/10/2018 08:13

They've amended it. It doesn't say 'anti-trans' nor name FPFW anymore.
Still all the tosh about 'what Rory wants'. No mention of what Karen and Jacinta want.

Have complianed for bias.

Uterusowner · 17/10/2018 08:16

Antii- trans has been changed to campaigners, a small step. Well done to all who quickly complained. Still a terrible article however.

Redkeyboard · 17/10/2018 08:19

Yesterday shd be last week sorry

PaleBlueMoonlight · 17/10/2018 08:21

can anyone take a screen shot of the article in its original form? I had already closed the tab.

Cwenthryth · 17/10/2018 08:47

Here you are

FPFW is visible in the photo they’ve used

PaleBlueMoonlight · 17/10/2018 09:06

Thanks, that's great. If you still have it open, you might want to do the whole article in case they make further changes (and for posterity).

R0wantrees · 17/10/2018 09:17

Do screenshot asap if you are making a complaint.

Online articles are sometimes edited.

Good idea. Have pdf’d it, if anyone is collating these things let me know.

RiverTam · 17/10/2018 09:27

complained.

dragongirlx · 17/10/2018 09:28

I complained too

thats two in two days

LangCleg · 17/10/2018 09:38

I have complained (again).

Of particular note to me is that Newsbeat's remit is to specifically target young audiences. This kind of propagandising is therefore doubly damaging.

enrichedatthegulags · 17/10/2018 09:39

Complained too

RiverTam · 17/10/2018 09:40

Lang yes, I made that point to. It's grooming, isn't it? - teaching children to ignore their own boundaries and consent.

GrouchyKiwi · 17/10/2018 09:41

I have complained too. I read the earlier article and was shocked by the blatant bias. It's still incredibly unbalanced.

AngryAttackKittens · 17/10/2018 09:49

Trying to sell this to young people really is grooming, and in the long run not helpful to any of those young people. Paste on this glitter beard and like Rory you too can get a new birth certificate? It's like some sort of weird BBC/Tumblr hybrid site.

Turph · 17/10/2018 09:59

Done

Yes, yes it is.

Turph · 17/10/2018 10:04

Paste on this glitter beard
I know. And Rory is tiny, slightly built and will never pass in a million years, even if Rory grows enough body and facial hair to rival Captain Caveman. He looks like a child in a training bra in the "I am what I am" pic, with the cruisewear mesh t shirt over the top. This doesn't scream "man" to me, it just looks exploitative and creepy.

Theinconstantgardener · 17/10/2018 10:37

Complained. Mind you I'm not holding my breath. A while back when I complained about a biased and frankly misinformed page on the radio one website about trans they acknowledged saying they would pass my comments on to the department concerned but nothing after that . Yea I know I should have chased but keeping track of all this is some task. Perhaps I should keep a journal of progress!
