What point do you want to make? Sounds like a good idea to me. Is there also a ladies and a men’s?

lara09 · 15/10/2018 21:08

What's the problem ?

AssassinatedBeauty · 15/10/2018 21:08

I'd be asking what on earth a "washroom" is?

I guess you could ask them why their disabled facilities are being re-purposed for all able bodied people. How does that affect their provision for disabled people?

lara09 · 15/10/2018 21:09

Men should be able to access changing facilities for babies ! It's not just mothers who have children. I think this is a brilliant idea

AssassinatedBeauty · 15/10/2018 21:11

Why should the disabled toilets be taken to be used for this purpose? Why on earth wouldn't they just put baby changing in the men's toilets as well?

E20mom · 15/10/2018 21:11

I'd say thanks if it was me. It means both me or my boyfriend cold change our daughter's nappy whilst we were there. I would welcome more of these.

AssassinatedBeauty · 15/10/2018 21:12

Why should the disabled toilets be taken to be used for this purpose?

Cheeseandapple · 15/10/2018 21:13
  1. Toilets are segregated by sex not gender.
  1. Provision of access for disabled people is set out in the equality act. Why is this space being chipped away?
OP posts:
lara09 · 15/10/2018 21:14

@Cheeseandapple I have no idea what your talking about get over it. Men and women can use them if that's not equality then I dunno what is

NothingOnTellyAgain · 15/10/2018 21:15

Lot of facilities that have been gained by years of lobbying by disability groups are now having stickers put on them saying anyone can use them. It erodes the provision for people with disabilities and that's not right.

lara09 · 15/10/2018 21:16

It's a disabled toilet that can be used by both genders and has changing facilities that can be used by both genders. They obviously don't have space to do it separately. Why do people feel the need to make a big issue about everything.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 15/10/2018 21:16
  1. Disabled toilets are usually unisex - making them "all -gender" is a meaningless statement, and doesn't change their already existing unisex status.
  1. This is more of an issue IMO. It is shitty that people with disabilities are losing their spaces to this.
Cheeseandapple · 15/10/2018 21:16

@lara09 this is a disabled toilet being repurposed as an 'all gender washroom'. You don't see the problem with that?

OP posts:
AssassinatedBeauty · 15/10/2018 21:16

@lara09 what you're being asked is why are the disabled toilets that are being taken to be used for men? Why not just put more facilities in the men's? Do you think it's ok to turn disabled facilities into general facilities for everyone? Can you see any problems that might cause for disabled people?

VMisaMarshmallow · 15/10/2018 21:17

Disablility accessible toilets are a legally protected necessity. They can be used by a man with disabilities or a woman by disabilities. Men and woman with disabilities also have children and need access to changing stations for them when they are babies. In some places that are small a disability accessable toilet with said changing station becomes the default toilet if there is only room for one (cafes in small listed buildings for example). In situations where there is room for men’s women’s and the disability accessable toilet and a separate baby change room then the disability accessable toilet is only for those people who need to use it because of their disability, whether visable or not. Disability rights groups fault for the right for t

NothingOnTellyAgain · 15/10/2018 21:19

Apparently lits of people on the thread see no issue with that...

Yes of course it's fine to open the facilities up that are the only option for some people, to everyone.

Blokes at my work were saying they always use disabled stuff why not, they assumed everyone did it, I don't, I was a bit taken aback.

lara09 · 15/10/2018 21:19

@AssassinatedBeauty so what if the disabled person has a child and needs to change them ? I don't see an issue with changing a child in a disabled toilet no

VMisaMarshmallow · 15/10/2018 21:19

Fkkk s ^

Disability right groups fault for accessable toilets, it would be disgusting and disablist for these to now become default for trans. That’s effectively erasing those of us with disabilities.

I wonder if this would be a suitable legal test case people have been asking about here?

lara09 · 15/10/2018 21:21

I've used disabled toilets loads of times I take about 30 seconds in the toilet and am always quick if no one is using them then why not 🤷🏼‍♀️

AssassinatedBeauty · 15/10/2018 21:23

@lara09 I'm not sure if you're intentionally misunderstanding?

It's a disabled toilet. So a disabled parent with a child can obviously use those facilities! No need for any extra labelling, just the disabled sign and the baby change.

Adding the "all genders washroom" sign means that anyone, without a child and not disabled, can and will use that facility. Thus preventing disabled people from using it. That's the problem!

Gileswithachainsaw · 15/10/2018 21:24

So disabled people wait while snowflakes who have the use of other facilities any time they want get indulged.
No mate seriously . He set is not a disability they should use the other toilets

lara09 · 15/10/2018 21:24

@AssassinatedBeauty oh ok yeah I didn't fully understand I thought it was just for disabled or parents with children.
The all genders sign isn't really relative

Cheeseandapple · 15/10/2018 21:24

@lara09 this isn't about you and your anecdotal experience of using disabled toilets. It's about the legal onus on service providers to make reasonable adjustments to ensure disabled people aren't at a disadvantage. If you insist on being too obtuse to understand then there's nothing more to say to you about. What's the point on answering a request for help with such unhelpful comments? 🤷🏻‍♀️

OP posts:
AssassinatedBeauty · 15/10/2018 21:24

Ah, now you're just being antisocial, @lara09. How can you possibly know whether a disabled person has been prevented from using the disabled toilet when you're blocking it? You can't. You're just making a totally ignorant assumption.

Gileswithachainsaw · 15/10/2018 21:25

Gender is not
