Does anyone have any idea what this is about?

Puberty blockers are not only used to stop girls having periods, they are used because girls who go through early puberty are usually abnormally short, as physical growth/height stops during puberty. Most girls, height-wise, stop growing at 14/15.

One of the other reasons for giving puberty blockers for very early menarche is to let the girls' bones grow a bit more (so, same for boys).

She is, of course, correct that one chromosome makes a child male or female.

She wants to look at the medical side of the issue and so she is talking to parents?! Are these parents Endocrinologists?!

OvaHere · 15/10/2018 12:19

I would have thought the main difference is that in cases of abnormally early puberty is that the girls come off the blockers after a couple of years and go on to experience a normal puberty.

For trans children the outcome most likely is that they go straight from blockers to cross hormones and never experience a natural puberty. It sets them down a path that leads to infertility and life long medical intervention.

Proper research has to be done into the risks associated with never going through puberty. We have already seen some evidence that it affects the brain, maturation and intelligence. This needs to be looked into further.

Champion is digging her heels in and coming out strongly for transgender people who are being "terrorised" on social media. In the same tweet she refers to a suicide in Rotherham.

Her persistence over the suicide situation is dangerously irresponsible for a public figure.

Oh, for heaven's sake. Champion has not got the first clue what she is talking about. If she had any sense at all she would shut up and stop digging.

Early menarche has long term health risks and thats why puberty blockers are sometimes prescribed, not to prevent pregnancy. I mean, WTF? Have people not heard of the age of consent?
It is concerning that the average IQ seems to be dramatically declining. When supposedly educated adults don't seem to grasp basic facts such as sex being determined at conception, or the penis and the clitoris being different organs, one does have to wonder why.
