Well she’s definitely painfully stupid based on all of this but i’m not sure she’s any worse than the rest of the MPs and Party leaders all mindlessly insisting that transwomen literally are women and how fucking dare ‘some feminists’ (they can’t call us ‘women’ cos then the jig is up
) have such a problem with that.
From memory since the Blair years there have been fewer and fewer professional scientists and medics or even scientifically qualified people standing as MPs.
I guess that’s why science organisations like the Royal Society do an exchange scheme to try to give MPs at least someone to call and to build bridges. I would recommend everyone to write to their (non sciencey) MP to ask them to do something like this.. and to remind MPs that voters DO value scientific input into policy.

It’s definitely something for scientists, medics and the prospective Parliamentary candidate selection panels at party Central Offices and constituencies to think on- this kind of widespread idiocy is what happens if you only pick electoral candidates on party loyalty or being telegenic or having the right back story and if you don’t value any other qualities and qualifications.
It contributes to the anti-experts feeling and makes political discourse gullible and vulnerable to all sorts of unhelpful influences. As has exactly happened here.
I am starting to appreciate having the unelected House of Lords more and more because luckily it does at least still have a good stock of scientists, medics and philosophers who DGAF about re-election or being popular in their party and often they also have happen to have their hearts in the right place.
That is lucky for women when you look at what the elected ones are currently doing for women.
