Apologies if this link doesn't work

Sounds really encouraging. Tim Shipman and Andrew Gilligan.

This story means its more likely to get TV coverage on the Sunday politics programmes, Marr, papers reviews etc

RogerAllamsFangirl · 14/10/2018 08:45

Did anyone notice the headline had changed and comments had disappeared this morning?

I wonder what is happening WRT the other inquiry about the huge rise in young girls wishing to 'trans'? Let's hope that our intrepid journalist friends have their eyes on this prize too.

scepticalwoman · 14/10/2018 08:50

The Times often do this when an article moves across to a new edition. Only occasionally do they bring the original comments across so I don't think it's sinister.

The Times really must be commended for their approach to this. They have led the press in highlighting what's happening.

Ereshkigal · 14/10/2018 08:51

She said it was the defining moral and cultural issue of our times”
Well she’s an idiot.

This. She really is. And what does she think she's doing, promising to Stonewall?

FlowersAndHerts · 14/10/2018 08:52

Roger See my post on the previous page. It was first published at 6pm last night, with comments allowed, not held in pending. Then republished this morning under a different headline. So the other comments hadn't disappeared - they are just in the first story.

The interesting thing for me was how come it was published "under the radar" last night, with comments allowed in real time!

LizzieSiddal · 14/10/2018 08:57

I like the new headline. It puts the responsibility of this onto the whole govt, rather than Penny Mordaunt.

RogerAllamsFangirl · 14/10/2018 09:06

Interesting Times comment process info - thanks for the knowledge all. I thought this was a great article.

Also note the FairPlay one click consultation page is down for some. If you turn off Wi-fi and use 4g, it works.

Sabotage?

Datun · 14/10/2018 10:14

Nic Williams has just posted a thread about alternative ways to complete the consultation using one click. As so many people are having trouble accessing it.

God, that woman's a trouper.

FlowersAndHerts · 14/10/2018 10:15

I'm probably just suspicious, but I feel that the moderating of pending comments in The Times is probably left to someone young and perhaps uncritical of the trans activists. So far, only 26 comments have been allowed through the "pending" mire. Any with external links are particularly affected. This means that any early readers do not see links to the consultation.

dolorsit · 14/10/2018 10:17

Could the problem be that so many people are attempting to access the page to send the form that the server thinks it's under attack?

dolorsit · 14/10/2018 10:17

Sorry wrong thread.

Datun · 14/10/2018 10:18

dolorsit

I don't know - not tecky. But that sounds reasonable.

And reassuring if true.

R0wantrees · 14/10/2018 10:26

There has been some suggestion on Twitter that Virgin & Talk Talk servers have blocked FP4W site.
(no idea if this possible or true)

Just emailed my MP and will try and get the consultation filled in this afternoon.

I used to be a great believer in transition in order to treat gender dysphoria but now I can really see how it is like treating anorexia with liposuction. And I have struggled with my biology and what that means in relation to the way men (and this includes trans women I have come across) view me and my sexuality, not to mention the c-section I underwent, struggling with breast feeding and concieving due to my poly cystic ovaries and then having to fight to get a vaginal birth with my second child, due to the previous c-section. These are all situations that a man might be able to empathise with, but to actually understand these struggles, that I believe is only something a fellow natal women would understand.

Cwenthryth · 14/10/2018 17:24

Email to my MP done ✔️

I submitted the one-click consultation. I’d have liked to do personal individual answers for each question. But being realistic and not wanting to pile extra pressure on myself on my one day off, at least this way I’ve submitted something.

Reading my MP email through before sending I managed to do the entire thing without mentioning “transgender” once. Because my concerns aren’t about transgender people, they are about keeping single-sex spaces and predatory males abusing legal self-ID. Anyway, I asked her to attend the meeting on Tuesday (or send a representative) and hear the concerns we have. I asked her to listen. Can’t say fairer than that.

Sarahconnor1 · 14/10/2018 18:56

More from Andrew re the comres poll. 54% of MPs feel they can not speak freely on trans issues.

Interesting to note Andrew Gilligan's comment that only 28% of MPs support the proposals. That means there is substantial Labour scepticism too.
