So apparently Owl made a film

I'm thinking Owl should stick to Owl's day job (is there one?)

Hang on - thecatwas trans? Well, I presume they had had the op...

Grin

I really really don't want to be rude. If I attempted to make a short film too it would be very nearly as bad as that. I applaud anyone trying to communicate something important to them through art (I think Confused)

But dear god Gin

That was absolutely dreadful

AngryAttackKittens · 13/10/2018 12:44

The cat was very cute, so well done on the casting of the non-humans.

And what about if we have the ciswoman neighbour played by a transwoman? That'll be so cool!"

Exactly. Everyone knows Owl's trans, because they don't stop banging on about it!

But then they'll say a-ha! But so's the neighbour.

Gotcha!

Course, the triple bluff might be that the neighbour is a woman. Who they picked deliberately, to confuse people.

Cos that's the way they roll.

birdbandit · 13/10/2018 12:47

All this hilariously self indulgent, and a bit dim stuff will still be on the internet when Owl grows up. Awkward for Owl!

gendercritter · 13/10/2018 12:47

Well after all, as our TRA friends keep telling us, it is quite hard to tell the difference between old, tall hairy women and men.

Really really hard. Squints.

AngryAttackKittens · 13/10/2018 12:48

Also, where's Fox? If my partner made a film and didn't invite me to be in it I'd be a bit tetchy.

Was was this film trying to tell us tranwomen are paranoid and violent?

Or that if you are trans and don't think you are a true woman, like the neighbour, other transpeople are spying and will attack you?

FesteringCarbuncle · 13/10/2018 12:51

If Owl is non binary why are they so keen to be seen as a woman

zen1 · 13/10/2018 12:51

Was there supposed to be a subliminal message?

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 13/10/2018 12:53

I hope people are sharing it on twitter to highlight the "if you are trans but don't think like us, we're watching" message.

AngryAttackKittens · 13/10/2018 12:55

Maybe it was intended as a companion piece to that ridiculously creepy Scottish ad that looked like something Orwell might have written.

FloralBunting · 13/10/2018 12:59

It's not the first one they've done. I watched one a while ago that was equally worthy and earnest that starred both Fox and Owl, and Owl's character didn't realize that Fox's character was a transman until Fox inexplicably took off their overalls and stood by a lake displaying their mastectomy scars. It was very odd.

Datun · 13/10/2018 13:06

It's very sad

SwearyG · 13/10/2018 13:10

Isn't Fox the abusive "boy"friend?

FloralBunting · 13/10/2018 13:11

Nope. Different person.

R0wantrees · 13/10/2018 13:11

(how can you claim be a woman AND neither a man nor woman, sweetheart?)

This is the crux really.

Up until recently both Fox and Owl were asserting that they were a real man (ttransman) and real woman (transwoman), now both identity as non-binary.

Just as Jess Bradley identifies as both a transwoman and non-binary.

Its access all areas.

R0wantrees · 13/10/2018 13:14

Isn't Fox the abusive "boy"friend?

He is Lewis, a transman and with Fox and Owl are 'MyGenderation'
The collaberation began after the Channel 4 'My Transexual Summer'

SausageOnAFork · 13/10/2018 13:21

So in other words this is white middle class people who are upset that they don’t fit into any special boxes, like being black or gay or disabled, so they imagine themselves special.

R0wantrees · 13/10/2018 13:28

They have had considerable influence, media exposure and affirmation.

It seems that careers have been made.

LassWiADelicateAir · 13/10/2018 13:29

I'm amused to find Fox and Owl are not the only Fox and Owl

foxandowl.uk/about/

This Fox and Owl are in love with the outdoors and unconventional living

(I very much doubt there is anything unconventional about them)

Anyway that film is rubbish.

So far as "can or can't tell" if I knew nothing about Owl I would just think she is a rather beautiful and elegant woman in a Tilda Swinton-like way.

I can't work out if that is paying her a huge compliment or deeply insulting her because I'm assuming her gender.

LassWiADelicateAir · 13/10/2018 13:34

Owl has to bear the burden of being Icelandic too. A society where it is almost impossible not to be healthy, well- educated, safe and have one's opinions tolerated and respected.

R0wantrees · 13/10/2018 13:35

Owl's opinion pieces in the Independent are worth reading.

Owl comments a great deal there and in Pink News.

Very clear demonstration of a range of propaganda linguistic techniques.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 13/10/2018 13:46

What the FUCK was that? I genuinely do not understand the plot?

Was Owl was pretending they passed?

TheCbeebiesYellowBlobs · 13/10/2018 13:48

WHAT! Owl was not born a woman?? I'm sure everyone is shocked when they find out. Within seconds of meeting Owl in person or speaking to Owl on the phone. Or even interacting with Owl online.

Cocolepew · 13/10/2018 14:16

Maybe Fox was playing the cat?
If so , bravo Flowers
