subtract b2 from both sides a2 - b2 = ab - b2

factorise (a-b)(a+b) = b(a-b)

divide both sides by a-b

a+b = b

So of a = 1, then we said a=b so b=1, substituting in gived

2 = 1.

I'm afraid it falls down where you say

divide both sides by a-b

Division by zero - invalid!

Unless of course you say its valid. Its your world view and it would be literal violence for me to correct you on what I call "the facts"
