Caroline Farrow’s Stalker nightmare

Does anyone have any advice for properly dealing with an online stalker? Caroline is having a horrendous time, a man is ringing her house, her landline can’t be changed/blocked due to her husband being a Priest. He’s made a website where he writes pornographic filth about her and he taunts her with it 😡 It’s hosted abroad so I imagine little can be done.
The Police aren’t helping her at all, are there groups / orgs to help with this sort of thing? You don’t have to agree with her Catholic viewpoint to understand what she is being put through.

She’s the Woman Adrian Harrop tweeted the Pope about 🙄

There are a few stalkers about. One of them is tweeting Debbie Hayton's employers at the moment.

I don't know how many distinct stalkers there are, and how many are sockpuppets. It might be quite a small number (possibly just two or three) unhinged people.

This is horrible. Police aren’t doing anything? What about some kind of stalker support charity? I don’t know of one.

Suzy Lamplighter Trust springs to mind - they have a section on cyberstalking. www.suzylamplugh.org/

silentcrow · 12/10/2018 13:47

Lamplugh, FFS. Bloody autocorrect.

silentcrow · 12/10/2018 13:49

Suzy Lamplugh Trust also run the National Stalking Helpline: 08088020300

I am so sorry, Caroline. Flowers
How the hell do we stop this relentless targeting of women?

heresyandwitchcraft · 12/10/2018 13:53

Flowers also to Debbie, Posie, and anyone else being put through this.

The police need to step up - stalking is a crime and should be taken extremely seriously.

My dd has been through a similar thing. Two police forces were involved as it took place in two different areas, and they couldn't have been more different in their approach. One basically shrugged and said that they wouldn't act until he had 'committed a crime' - by which I guess they meant one of the straightforward, traditional ones like murder. The other, thankfully, saw it straight away for what it was and arrested the stalker.

She needs to escalate it with the police, and take it to the highest level. The Suzy Lamplugh trust might have advice on how to do that. They are an excellent charity (though some perseverance is needed to get through by phone.)

(And all that sounds very brisk, so I just want to add my heartfelt sympathy to Caroline. It's a life-wrecker.)

So sorry to anyone who deals with this. I think any woman in the public eye is hugely vulnerable to being stalked. It is a huge problem.

GenderApostate · 12/10/2018 14:24

I will pass on the info about the Suzy Lamplough trust, thanks.

The Harrop effect strikes again

That man is responsible for too much.

HumphreyCobblers · 12/10/2018 14:26

I am so sorry about this Caroline.
I wish I had some help to offer.

It is so unfair that women are having to put up with this shit.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 12/10/2018 14:31

I am so sorry to hear this

I hope she gets some good advice from the Suzy Lamplugh trust

Treasure114 · 12/10/2018 14:32

Would Paladin be able to help? They are a charity for victims of stalking.

This is outrageous!

If Caroline was in the other side of the fence the police would be falling over themselves to look after her.

RepealtheGRA · 12/10/2018 17:28

This is absolutely disgusting! Caroline is fab and I say that as an atheist.

And did I read that correctly, these utter arseholes are targeting a SCHOOL because a transsexual teacher works there? Shock And we’re expected to believe they’re FOR trans rights and safeguarding of children?

I think it’s another letter to your MP everyone. Ask them to ask an urgent question on what support is being given to these women, it’s terrorism at this point.

Coyoacan · 12/10/2018 18:18

It's horrible. They will send officers to warn Graham LInehan off for deadnaming but will not protect a woman.

FloralBunting · 12/10/2018 18:37

Solidarity, Caroline. xx And a rosary, too.

HamiltonCork · 12/10/2018 18:46

The police aren't coming out with this smelling of roses with this.

Has this been added to the BBC bias thread?
