Trans woman beaten in bathroom

I'm posting this as this is one of my early peak trans stories. Early on when I was more naive, I'd searched online for news stories of trans people being beaten up in toilets because I wanted to see how common it was as I've never met a man who'd either been attacked or attacked anyone else in a loo I only found this.

The problem is, this trans woman was attacked in a ladies loo by two teenage girls for flirting with one of their boyfriends who didn't realise the victim was trans (there's a video, you can hear the bit where an onlooker realises).
it was a horrible incident and the girls were quite rightly arrested and prosecuted and sentenced to 5 years prison.
My problem however is what happened next..
TRAs organised a protest to get the sentences increased. For a 14 and a 19 year old, black girls from a poor bbackground. Hundreds turned up. Seemed a bit lynch mob to me.
I mean, what the girls did was awful, but why is it worse that they beat a trans woman than an actual woman?
The victim herself didn't want this BTW, but the TRA juggernaut already had the pitchforks out..

Because TRA want it all, the entitlement of men and the protection of women.

There are girls in my neighbourhood who would beat you up if you flirted with their boyfriend.

I think my point is that tras seized on the incident, making it a hate crime, when the victim said it wasn't and the video says it wasn't precisely because there are no real cases to use as propaganda. Mens toilets are not unsafe for trans women. There's another reason they want in.

Surely this proves that ladies loos are less safe for them and they'd be better off having a piss in the mens?

This to my mind shows the sheer fatuity of the notion of "hate crime". Is it worse to beat someone up because they're transgender than because they flirted with your boyfriend?

The sentences seem pretty harsh to me, but of course sentences in the US to tend to be harsher than in the UK.

Would those same protesters have campaigned to get the already harsh sentences for two black teenage girls beating up a white man if that man wasn't wearing a skirt?

To get their sentences increased that is.

Shouldn't the onus be on violent people (male or female or whatever) to just stop being violent?

‘Hate crime’ means it is more acceptable to beat someone up for money than out of extreme emotion.

The point is that TRAs like to claim that TW are beaten by men and so need to use women's loos for safety. This account of women attacking a TW indicates that the women's loos may not be safe for them either, undermining their case for using the women's loos. Your view on violence is out of scopeope for the point originally made.

I really don't think this incident is representative of anything. Except that two against one is shitty odds if you're the one.

well like I said, it's the fault of the violent people. Noone else.

Another (possibly nasty) point is a MtF trans flirting with men, and not being upfront about their sex. That's the sort of stuff men do flip out about, I wouldn't advise it for any MtF and any woman would know that.

Ladies' rooms are the only single-sex toilet facilities that MTF trans people have ever been attacked in. There aren't any similar records of MTFs attacked in men's rooms.

Given this fact, clearly ladies' rooms are the true danger to transwomen, and they should make sure to use the men's for their own safety. If a trans supporter here cares to find me an example of a transgender person born with male equipment at birth being assaulted in a bathroom for their birth sex, I am happy to rescind the above.
