Where is the MN safe space?

If we see something going on on a FB page, how do we alert people here in order for them to go give support without alerting the people who watch this forum? There is a group needing help and sane voices but I don't want to link here. Please do PM if you know a way around this!

I think the best you can do is PM any regulars who you're certain are 'safe' people.

But others may know better. I do Facebook - I'm willing to help and would like to think I'm known well enough on here for people to be confident in me.

GColdtimer · 09/10/2018 14:49

We need an Underground Railroad. Of course there could be one.

I will PM you Vicky

I would like to join the Underground Railroad but I'm afraid I'm not well enough known on here. I do follow quite a few (what I assume to be) mumsnetters on Twitter, perhaps I could DM on there?

pennydrew · 09/10/2018 15:29

We need our own, private, version of MN. This place is watched

WhoWants2Know · 09/10/2018 15:34

Is the GC board on Reddit any use?

GColdtimer · 09/10/2018 15:35

Yes, good idea to DM some on Twitter.

Penny, you are right. I still haven't recovered from being the poster that alerted the TRA to the NAS debacle (thank you for your support there though, I think it was you, I am rubbish with user names!). I thought I was doing the right thing so I am being ultra careful.

OP posts:
GColdtimer · 09/10/2018 15:37

I suppose the issue is anything that is public is fair game for the TRAs. Anything that is private takes time and effort to police etc. I know there are some private GC groups on FB, perhaps we just need to get organised about sharing info we don't want getting out yet via our own networks.

I'd be interested in this. But it might be hard to do securely?

arranfan · 09/10/2018 15:52

I'm not there but are there closed areas on Peachy Yoghurt's (?) genderhammer forum?

There is the board that I like to call ‘The room of requirement’ on here 😉 It’s on a remote and seldom used pathway.
Or there is the private forum used by many current and ex MNers.

arranfan · 09/10/2018 15:57

‘The room of requirement’

I would adore one of those. I suspect mine would mostly be a place for me to have a quick snooze. :)

pennydrew · 09/10/2018 16:00

Yeah I’m pretty disheartened after the NAS thread and an obvious troll not removed. We need an alternative that is FOR WOMEN

misscockerspaniel · 09/10/2018 16:36

What Spartacus said - it is really easy for trolls to build up fake profiles and gain trust. Be aware. Be very aware.

PerverseConverse · 09/10/2018 17:35

@twofalls you can PM me. I've wondered about this too.

Badstyley · 09/10/2018 18:22

Please be cautious about any information you offer. We are being bombarded at the moment, and it only takes one infiltrator to cause a lot of trouble.

tobee · 09/10/2018 18:32

I'd like to be involved in a group but it's more important that people take precautions that I'm not a troll. For example, I'm not on Twitter, have only posted one thing related to gc on Facebook, done leafleting and posted on here. If I was checking up on me, iyswim, I wouldn't be sure!

I'd forgotten about the room of requirement! I just popped over

they're all a bit strange there....

Melamin · 09/10/2018 21:41

There is always the Stationery Cupboard Grin

Angryresister · 09/10/2018 21:59

I am lost .. Room of requirement???

KataraJean · 09/10/2018 22:06

Stationary cupboard - the erasers were the giveaway.

Room of requirement - lost with that one too, unless it is where the ladies on the EA thread used to go. That saw me through some stressful times.

ErrolTheDragon · 09/10/2018 22:21

The trouble with the one or two more obscure spaces which might exist on MN is that by definition if troublemakers can't find them, neither can anyone else.
