Exhausted and depressed by the power and misogyny of TRAs

I can't understand how the TRA lobby has been able to hoodwink so many organisations so quickly and so forcefully.

It is madness to me: the emperor obviously has no clothes but almost everyone is pretending he has and everyone else is too scared to speak up and point out he hasn't even if they know it.

But I am exhausted by the mental energy it is taking to fight this, engage (especially in a calm and rational way so as not to scare people off) and generally keep pushing back.

My DH - while wholeheartedly agreeing with me - thinks it comes down to arguing with idiots on social media and I should take a step back but then I remember Karen White, Jess Bradley, Pips Bunce, and I realise this isn't an academic argument - it's real and it's impacting women in the real world - and I need to keep fighting.

I am trying to move my social media activism into real-world activism, first by peak-transing friends, but also by getting involved with protest, groups etc.

But I'm just so tired. And I can't see when/where this will end. It sort of all feels inevitable.

Just rambling... and wondering if anyone feels the same.

And there is so much misogyny there won’t be the political/social will to prevent this. Those who stand against it will be in a minority and/or too frightened to do anything.

There seems to be a whole mixture of sinister things happening.
There's definitely a move to get everyone as 'connected' as possible -the move away from cash (so all transactions can be tracked), the need to be signed in to google or whatever on phones laptops etc to do anything, carrying a geo tag (phone) wherever you go.
Some things people objected to not that long ago they are now happily paying to be part of -eg having your DNA profiled and always carrying ID (phones).
There's the whole 'trans humanism' thing too- tech implants, body modifications.
People spending so much time in VR that it becomes more 'real' to them than the physical world.

We are slowly being edged into the matrix.

Sounds nuts but here we are at the start of a 'brave new world ' (excellent book)

Microchipping humans is already a reality;

Following on from red's post on China and AI. They are seeking to use it to control a whole area Xinjiang, in the north. Police stations are appearing on street corners, there's mass surveillance, huge detention camps and people are having to have Han security forces come to live in their homes to monitor them.

Such a beautiful place and people. Very sad. Probably very prescient.

Channel 4 news did a wee thing on it.
www.channel4.com/news/the-persecution-of-the-uyghur-people-incarceration-and-re-education
For Uyghurs, it means that wherever they go, whomever they talk to and even whatever they read online are all being monitored by the Chinese government
www.engadget.com/2018/02/22/china-xinjiang-surveillance-tech-spread/

No matter how they try to control with AI, in the west, our capital is our fertility. Western male fertility is down 50% over the last few decades. Lisa Muggeridge has a good piece on us being the most productive of the species. Our fertility is our capital, no matter what handmaidey fantasies they have, they're not getting it. They are no where near being able to re produce it artificially. Smile

Bloody hell woman11017 that's chilling stuff!
The fertility issue is interesting, hadn't thought about that. Those of us who are past it will be worth even less than we are now!
At a sort of tangent, the sex doll brothels are another aspect of dehumanisation that gives me the creeps.

Google are currently trying to get back into the Chinese Market but in order to do so have to comply with censorship laws there which they are now agreeing to after years of saying it was unexceptable (unamerican).

The Trump got in and American diplomacy and liberal values went down the toilet. Human right are no longer important

theintercept.com/2018/09/13/google-china-search-engine-employee-resigns/
Senior Google scientist resigns over "forfeiture of our values" in china

Google aren't exactly being transparent about what they plan with China, which isn't popular with employees or shareholders.

Google had a big data breech and didn't tell users recently, deciding instead to simply shut down Google + instead.

Google needs a huge dose of government and international scrutiny. Instead it appears things are going in the opposite direction.

Re the Uighur

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.fastcompany.com/40510238/in-xinjiang-china-some-knives-branded-with-owners-qr-codes

China are going as far a using qr codes to keep track of knives. I've also seen reports (containing photos) of how some knives have to be chained up to stop the mere possibility being used for terrorism, even in professional kitchens.

It's incredible and horrific to think about.
