I thought it was ace (and nicely back towards the Christopher Ecclestone Dr Who, who has always been my favourite of the modern doctors - not just accent but personality). I thought it was very cleverly written. New and still the doctor! (And ever cell in her new body is female...)

I love Dr Who have done for decades. The Dr changed sex as time travelling, regenerating, time and space travelling aliens seem able to. The Dr could have been transgender but they have a female actress playing a female character who states they have changed every cell in their body, so on this occasion they haven't gone with that. They may do in the future.

I noticed she was going to bring FairPlay to Earth as well and I wondered to myself about the writer....

The doctor said she hadn't bought women's clothes for a long time - suggesting The Doctor had been female before...

DOCTOR: Yeah, I think she was a man back then. I'm fairly sure that I was, too. It was a long time ago, though.
BILL: So, the Time Lords, bit flexible on the whole man-woman thing, then, yeah?
DOCTOR: We're the most civilised civilisation in the universe. We're billions of years beyond your petty human obsession with gender and its associated stereotypes.

For the Doctor to be trans he'd [?] have to have been born male and then 'transitioned'. But he's presumably beyond biological sex.

I hadn't realised she was in Broadchurch. I watched the whole programme trying to figure out where I'd seen her.

I haven’t seen her in anything before. She’s great, hugely likeable, some funny lines, nice tone to the show. It’s nice family tv.
