How can we find out how many organisations actually use them here in the UK (or even just England) ?
I’d be willing to bet that none who receive any kind of public funding do, out of fear of repercussions.
I only know of Freedom programme and the Womens Holiday place who use the exemptions, they can resist pressure because they have no public money. I do hope there are more - if there are public bodies who do, so much the better.

Good question, I don't know how we find out. Maybe asking/looking at individual organisational policies?

Do Womens Holiday also exclude transwomen with a GRC (under current requirements)? May be difficult to prove the person was born male if they have and had GRS, thats the issue if getting a GRC becomes as simple as saying so.

Is it recorded anywhere can an FOI be done?

I think it would be another case of email your MP and ask and make the point that you think exemptions should be opt out, not opt in.

The laws there and it’s perfectly acceptable to use it, it just needs to be better publicised.

The problem is if you start asking individual organisations they get nervy and think you might be a TRA.
