Under Californian law, the refuge has to accept TWAW or lose federal funding. Staff allegedly threatened women with expulsion if they complained about showering with this male bodied person.

Brave women. Hope they win

Interesting that they have to accept TW or lose federal funding. But does that mean they aren't able to evict TW who are behaving badly? Those poor women faced either with having to put up with sexual harassment or be put on the streets. I hope they win too.

Case not due to be heard until 2020

So what do women do now

Stay home and wait to be killed by their abusive partners?

Choose what kind of abuse they can live with more?

I would imagine they can in theory evict someone for bad behaviour, but how do you prove someone is 'leering'? You're going to risk complaints of transphobia unless it is 100% proven and even serious sexual assault is seldom simple to prosecute.

Very sad that the refuge is now facing the expense of a court case and potentially paying damages, probably whilst relying heavily on donations, all because people didn’t engage their brain when coming up with the ridiculous policy in the first place.
