Men making me feel bad

On Twitter this evening: I challenge some crappy comments about a female commentator on Match of the Day.

So challenging have I been (apart from the man who told me to go to bed as I was obviously drunk )that someone has accused me of basically ruining his career.

I mean: FFS. I’m just saying don’t hurt assume a woman will be a bad pundit because she’s a woman

Don’t just

The female pundits on the BBC are awesome: professional, knowledgable, well-prepared. Men are scared because women are clearly better at it than them.

As more women prove how good they are at a wide range of things (who'd 'thought it?) some men who deep down feel very bad about themselves, feel very threatened.

I have sons and my aim is to make then feel good about themselves. To be whole and emotionally literate so they don't get their jollies by bullying others. And I have a husband who is setting them a good example too

I have sons too. Sometimes it can be a hard line to balance in a society that still places so much value in masculinity. While it is really important to teach them to not be bullies, in my experience the really important thing is to teach them to stand up to bullying.

My eldest is so gentle natured girls have always naturally been drawn to him. At 10 he stood up for a girl being bullied by his mates, who then turned on him. After a year and a half of hell I took him to my PT. A well placed right hook sorted the bullies out. Am I proud it had to come to that? No. But fortunately he has the emotional intelligence to understand that sometimes a man needs to step up and if the only language someone speaks is physical, you may have to talk their language.

I’ve seen him step up when an acquaintance was slut shamming a girl on social media. Guy deleted his posts real quick. Girl has now been one of his best friends for the past 3 years.
