Childcare vouchers on Statutory Maternity Pay

Hi

I just wanted to get a sense of who out there is still getting their childcare vouchers paid by their employer whilst on SMP.

I believe there was a court case in 2016 which stated employers were no longer obliged to pay this but most still seem to. What are your experiences?

Thanks!

Mine are paying. Smile

Mine did. My maternity pay was slightly lower (because your salary is technically reduced when you are paying into the scheme), but the weeks where I got 'free' vouchers pretty much evened it out.

My employer does- and if I don't have enough to cover it then they do

NanooCov · 05/10/2018 08:49

Mine do during the period where I have nothing to cover the deduction.

Interesting. I have only ever heard of one other that doesn't but they were a registered charity run nursery led by parents. I am a teacher. Any other teachers out there with experience of this?

Oh dear. Did they give a reason? Is it a small organisation with a tight budget?

Mine did, but that was in 2012.

I'm a teacher and will receive them. Not sure how it works when I'm just on stat pay though and when the "benefit" of them continuing kicks in?

CremeDeSudo · 06/10/2018 19:40

Mine are. Ftse 100 company

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 06/10/2018 19:43

Mine don't. Very large public sector organisation. They were shocked when I enquiried and pointed out to them that other employers paid.

I've been getting mine even in the last 3 months of mat leave which is great.

tediousnamechange · 06/10/2018 20:31

I'm a teacher ok maternity but only 5 months in - currently getting the child care vouchers, not sure what will happen next though.
