Not sure if this was posted, it was on PinkNews and then Posie posted it.

The video is the usual tosh - my son liked dresses so woop woop he's a girl - but a LOT of the comments are about sex stereotypes and how banal they are.

They could have just looked up 'girl' in the dictionary of they wanted to know what one is. It's not hard.

Love the way the transgender child says that the girl aliens do all the work and the boy aliens sit around eating things. What great enlightened thinking!

And the mum saying ‘who gets to decide if you are a girl or a boy?’ ‘Me!’ All sounds cute and lovely and it would be true within a game or within certain contexts but there are so many things we don’t say children get to decide between - but apparently their sex is just a minor issue (albeit one the entire social group around this child had to adapt to while the mum puzzled that a girl can be an astronaut or a plumber so what does ‘girl’ really mean anyway?!) so yes they can decide that but not to stay home from school or to eat ice cream all day.

Gah, sorry for ragey rant there.

'What even is a girl anyway'?

I don't know, why don't you fucking well ask all the men over history who have known exactly who to rape, sexually assault, murder at birth, deny the vote to, deny an education to, deny an abortion to, deny a promotion or pay rise to.

They seem to have it pretty well figured out.

AAAAAARRRGGGHHHHHHHH!

elephant too right. This is what pisses me off about all of this, we're suddenly supposed to just forget all of that and pretend it has never happened, that men don't rape and murder and kill women because they are women. Because now everyone can be a woman. Yay.

I'd love to know what part of our biology makes us love wearing dresses. Any time I've worn them has been because I had to (primary school for a while) or I felt expected to.

I've no issue with boys wearing dresses if they want to though.

scots it's our girlbrains, haven't you been listening? The part of women's brains that make us love pink and nail varnish and cleaning up.

Didn't work for me, sorry. In my day I was called a tomboy, thought I might be lesbian but happily married to DH. Nowadays I might have been deemed transgender.
