And he doesn’t seem like the type who will back down and apologise to the trans bullies.

I hope he enforces women only spaces in his gyms.

If you’re on Twitter might be good to show him some support.

Not on twitter but I’m pleased to hear his views and hope others follow suit.

Needmoresleep · 03/10/2018 06:50

He knows that should male bodied people start using womens changing rooms, he will see the number of women members drop rapidly.

Pity Sport England and Girl Guides dont understand that the female participation in sports and guiding will do the same. Or maybe they understand, but dont care.

Uncreative · 03/10/2018 06:53

His clubs may also be exposed to a lawsuit if something happened in the changing rooms. Perhaps that’s the way to get the message across - the potential cost if/when the ‘it’ll never happen’ happens.

Needmoresleep · 03/10/2018 07:12

I think I read somewhere that a proposal to make the City of London's public toilets geneder neurtal was met with strong and quick opposition from hotels and the tourist board. (SwearyG will know more as it was linked to the Hampstead Ladies Pond consultation.) Hotels and restaurants catering to tourists and conservative communities similarly will not be happy, as most will either have to face unhappy customers or expensive building works.

sexnotgender · 03/10/2018 09:15

For anyone not on twitter and for posterity should a retraction be forthcoming.

I don’t think he’ll back down but we’ll see...

And the very good Mail article .

www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-6231159/Academic-argues-against-Gender-Recognition-Act-changes.html

DB has no reason to back down. Unlike Ocado he appears to understand his market.

Redkeyboard · 03/10/2018 10:43

Thanks Duncan. Also a good business decision. Single sex changing rooms will win customers if they disappear elsewhere

heresyandwitchcraft · 03/10/2018 11:07

Thank you Duncan!!

gendercritter · 03/10/2018 11:31

Great. It's nice to see so many men agreeing with him on the thread too. It's just common sense

GulagsMyArse · 03/10/2018 11:36

Mumfun · 03/10/2018 11:43

Always struck me as someone who is savvy about how humans operate. Will definitely be a plus for his gyms if women feel safe there

oooompa · 03/10/2018 13:38

I've always had a bit of a thing for Duncan Bannatyne, this makes me like him even more Grin

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 03/10/2018 13:42

I am clearly more cynical than you. Lots of people don't seem like the type to back down, until they do.
The business case is very clear but there have been plenty of unaccountably bad business decisions made in this whole mess.

Go on, Duncan, prove me wrong!

Popchyk · 03/10/2018 13:42

He's commented further:

"The proposed law change that was being discussed in my tweet line is a law that would allow any man at any time to declare he represents himself as a woman and therefore must be allowed to use ladies changing room".

So nope, not backing down. Just saying that the system is open to abuse. Which you'd think would not be controversial.

Most comments are positive.

GreenGloves · 03/10/2018 14:07

I imagine he's not got many woke followers, hence no outrage yet.

Good on him for speaking common sense.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 03/10/2018 14:12

This is true, I can't imagine blue haired people following Duncan Smile

DayMay · 03/10/2018 14:13

Is he aware of the reaction from adult human females to Ocado?

SadieLancaster · 03/10/2018 14:15

Go Duncan!

Just seen this on Twitter.

Ffs 😡

I imagine Duncan's new wife (?) Is here on these boards and has spoken to him regarding the gym thread here. He's not daft - he's a savvy straight-talking Scottish businessman who knows his market.

Which incidentally where I live is a huge amount of 50+ women who spend hours enjoying a "health centre' and probably don't want to see dicks everywhere when doing 10 gentle lengths and catching up on their copy of cross stitching.

Estellesylvia · 03/10/2018 14:30

Trans girl at six.

That makes me want to weep for the messed up childhood of that little boy. It honestly does.

OP posts:
Estellesylvia · 03/10/2018 14:36

Also at six I don’t believe anyone would physically bar this little boy from changing with the girls.

Of course they wouldn't most pools have a cut off age of 8. This is a post trying to drum up hate.
