Is it me?

My daughter showed me this picture posted by their school science department on their Instagram feed. For context, the accompanying text includes a link to a revision source for students on how pregnancy tests work.

Is it me, or am I missing some sort of cultural/youth subtext that makes this ok, dinosaur that I am? Confused

Is it me?

That is so not ok on so many levels Angry

I would ask how they reconcile that with their equality policy and whatever policy they may have that covers respecting others

StealthPolarBear · 30/09/2018 12:18

Bloody hell. Women lie about being pregnant to trap a man. That's the message they want their students to see?

VickyEadie · 30/09/2018 12:18

I'd complain. That's appalling. And I'm not without experience of school leadership, by the way...

Ornitorrinco · 30/09/2018 12:20

Just... no words 🤦🏽‍♀️ OP this is shocking and absolutely worth a serious complaint.

Oh Jesus. Really? It's not you. Ring the head of department and ask for them to have some really blunt words with whoever put that up. (Science teacher here BTW).

I take it the asterisks spell out bitches?

This has no place on a school site.

You are not missing anything. Someone in your child's school is an idiot trying to be some sort of "down with the kidz" cool person.

Complain vigorously.

dolorsit · 30/09/2018 12:24

WTF

That is all.

twofrontteeth · 30/09/2018 13:05

I can't imagine that this hasn't at least been seen (and therefore condoned) by a number of teachers if not management too, which is what made me question if it was just me.

Nothing like encouraging women into stem subjects eh.

Totally wrong - what idiot seriously thought that was a good idea?!Shock

Barracker · 30/09/2018 13:19

Entirely inappropriate and whoever posted it needs disciplinary action.

ZuttZeVootEeVro · 30/09/2018 13:28

I don't think clearblue would be happy with the word bitches being used alongside their product.

I wonder if it was designed by a student. Whoever designed it, it shouldn't be used by the school.

FlowerpotFairyHouse · 30/09/2018 13:30

Sort, I don't even understand what it's supposed to mean! Confused

FlowerpotFairyHouse · 30/09/2018 13:31

*sorry

LonginesPrime · 30/09/2018 14:55

I reckon someone googled pregnancy test to get a picture and didn't realise there was writing.

Still not excusable as kids are exposed to whatever teachers are posting for homework and there should obviously be a system in place to prevent this sort of mistake (and I think it was a mistake, because who in their right mind would have done that on purpose??)
