Do we need an “All About Trans” equivalent?

I am a regular poster with a new username.

A link on another thread shows the influence of All About Trans, a project whose only purpose is to influence the media to create more positive images and roles reflecting trans people.

It seems like the larger media outlets have completely forgotten that over 50% of the population have concerns specific to us being born biologically female. It seems what works is having cozy chats with significant movers and shakers within these organizations. It appears as a result of what is effectively a form of lobbying, trans issues are often taking precedence over women’s issues even when they could affect our rights. Do we need to create a media savvy arm that can talk to the media behind the scenes as All About Trans is doing?

No they just need to wake up to trans activists don’t give a crap about anyone but themselves, the ones shouting on twitter for example are prime example of it being self promoting of 5mins of fame.

They couldn’t give fuck about the genuine transwomen/men, women’s rights nor safeguarding children. They found a bandwagon to jump on and they milking it for everything they can and not giving a shit who they trample on to get it

Well how are "they" which I am assuming you mean leaders in media going to wake up if you don't have their ear? They are listening to the rhetoric on the other side because they built relationships. Doesn't it make sense to have a women's organization whose whole purpose is to meet purposefully and explain our POV in small groups behind the scenes the way All About Trans has done? I am only suggesting it as one method among many.

Yes it does, I agree. It would be amazing. But. Allabouttrans was set up with seed funding from the BBC and Channel four. Its got inbuilt bias written in, and divergent voices have never been included - its always been about promoting acceptance self ID. You never had the trans voice in AAT which believes it's a mental health issue and people should get all the psychiatric help needed to be comfortable in their unchanged bodies. Never. Even for a single issue organisstion it is spectacularly one-sided within that. It's all about demedicalising adults and getting medical treatment for kids.

It's obviously unbelievably shocking that it ever had such influence (and continues to do so) when no other special interest group has been given similar access. (they also got meetings with the BBC complaints director, newsnight, bbc online, ffs the BBC took Paris Lees to the Langham Hilton for tea, the list goes on and on, Channel 4, various big names in there). A women's group wouldn't get the access. It would be targeted instantly by TRA, who would destroy it with legal implements for 'discrimunation', and no one would agree to meet it.

But it's a great idea if you take out the plan to meet people of influence.

Wow Charlie I had no idea. Thank you for all this information. What is it about transgenderism that it has been actively promoted like this, with all the tremendous anxiety around acceptance?
