Not sure if it actually counts as hate speech & don't want to be banned!

Someone has been been putting up stickers where I live (medium/small city down south) saying something about feminism & trans rights - they have been stickered over with big yellow stickers that say 'REAL BABES STUCK TOGETHER - girl shit'

Everyone seems well happy with the yellow stickers but I pointed out that I think calling the original sticker people 'TERFS' was hateful.

Now apparently I am defending people with exclusionary views?

Is Instagram an echo chamber?

Ask if trans women are such real girls (Gepetto) why don't they stand up for women's rights?

The type of people who believe that guff are happy to exclude XX women (don't want to see a physical man in the changing room then go away) and re-name then to take the word 'woman' so who is the exclusionsary one?

UpstartCrow · 28/09/2018 16:15

I'm laughing at 'babes' and 'exclusionary'. Second wave feminists had to fight to be called by their names, not diminutive nicknames like 'babe'.

There are loads of actual feminists on Instagram, who don't exclude BAME women and survivors of male violence and call it feminism.

AgathaMystery · 28/09/2018 16:17

What's BAME? I am new to this - clearly.

Funny you mentioned babe - the group are 'FierceBabe - city name'

They are cool with trans women in our changing rooms - I did ask.

BAME is Black and minority ethnic.
Fake woke people like to pretend they support a woman's right to wear a headscarf, but then don't support their need to have a woman only space to adjust it in.
Hijab isn't a fashion statement. In Iran, 3.6 million women have been in trouble with the police for 'bad hijab' . That means, their scarf slipped and their hair showed in front of men who they are not related to.

Do they self ID as black or Asian then?

BitterAndOnlySlightlyTwisted · 28/09/2018 16:45

In that context I'd be proud to be accused of being exclusionary. This woke inclusiveness business is making me rather cross. I have no idea why these libfem-types don't get it. Note to self: must try harder

AgathaMystery · 28/09/2018 16:45

Gotcha. Thank you. The more I think about it the more furious I am.

I daren't get into a debate with them on Instagram. The city I live in is minute.

Block them.

Welcome to Terfville 😘

LillyoftheCentralValley · 28/09/2018 17:08

Now that you've been called a witch, expect all the little boys (not the trans ones either) to burn you with comments that feminism is supposed to be for everyone.

Feminism is about the advancement of women's rights, but mansplaining says it's about everyone and women have to make sure everyone else has rights while not being allowed to focus on their own.

It's about 50% of the population and that's too large to decide on one standard for all so there will be differences, but mainly we're not supposed to notice the other 50% are trying to make the rules.
