Anybody know UCU's position on N C

I had a very interesting chat this morning with my uni's vocal UCU (union) rep who wanted me to join. I said I wouldn't until I knew the union's position on the treatment of Dr Stock and Dr Freedman. She hadn't heard of these cases. Can anyone recommend me one (she's busy) good, objective piece about the treatment of Nc academics which I could share? Thanks. (Also has anyone had dealings with UCU on this - their women's charter seems positive from a quick skim read.)

Well, UCU came out in favour of self-ID at the TUC a couple of weeks ago. I wrote to them to ask how they had consulted with female members before doing this, and they haven't bothered responding. As far as I know, they have said nothing about the harassment of feminist academics. I am about to cancel my membership.

This times piece by Hugo rifkind is very considered - the thread below has a sharetoken link to the piece www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3375156-Hugo-Rifkind-in-the-Times-Even-thinking-about-trans-people-is-wrong

That's disappointing to know but thank you. Thanks for the link to the article. No idea why I wrote NC not GC in the original post - start of term and I'm already exhausted!

I am about to cancel my membership.

I was thinking about this too, but then I wondered whether it might be better to contact UCU leadership and tell them that since they didn't need my opnion about self-ID, they can do without my opinion on all the things they ballot us on until they reverse an anti-democratic decision that hurts women. Since ballot validity depends on turnout, enough women members boycotting ballots could prevent the union going ahead with strike action.

I refuse to be a member if they don't reverse their stance on self ID
