Not a regular poster but have been increasingly interested in reading this forum. I would generally classify myself as a feminist but I'll admit I'm quite ignorant to a lot of things.

I've been reading recently about all this gender identity and trans women now claiming women's rights and am quite annoyed and to be honest scared! I don't understand how this is allowed to happen. I would've said I was quite an open minded person but I'm not happy with an already oppressed group now have more of their rights taken away to appease others.

Thing I don't understand is, how come this seems to only be happening to women? Why is it only women getting attacked? Why are men not being attacked by trans men TRA's? Maybe they are and I just haven't noticed since my focus is on my own sex being bullied, but I read about the Green Party attempting to re name us men and not men?!?!

I'm sorry for my ignorance, but I'm trying to understand more of what's going on.

I'm sure I've seen you posting on this Board before.

What do you think is going on, from your reading of the Board in your lurking days?

Thing I don't understand is, how come this seems to only be happening to women?

Same reason as so many other things - good old fashioned sexism. 'The patriarchy' in new clothes.

Transmen and transwomen had different socialisation. However much you change your appearance, it’s not so easy to lose or gain the self-confidence given by that socialisation.

I have spoken to transmen who are shocked by the difference in how they are treated as they begin to pass.

Those born with privilege might understandably outraged to discover what it feels like to give that away. I have sympathy for that situation for anyone who doesn’t choose to aim their wrath at women.

That's what I was afraid of, that it literally boiled down to women are the lowest of the low so pick on them, but I thought surely in political standing they couldn't be so outwardly sexist and to women!?

Yes I've posted a bit before on some threads but I'm becoming so much more annoyed the more I read and just was wondering what on earth was going on with ftm transitions and why there wasn't a public attack on men's spaces, and men being attacked for not wanting ftm trans people in their changing rooms etc.

I'm in NI so I just don't really come across this much here, I'm sure there is a lot more going on than I realise. It's all site so uneasy with me and I've been discussing it with family and friends and so many of the women I've spoke to can't believe this is actually being allowed to happen.

Thank you for that link to the other thread, that person summed up their query much better than me! Going to give that a read now!
