Comment column by Julie.

There is also a news story, which I can't find online "Transgender effect skews crime crime data, say women's group" in print edition - Dr Nicola Williams and Fair Play for Women.

I think the Torygraph is spotting an opportunity now that the Guardian is utterly failing women. It is running more and more stories like this, it has been running a Women Mean Business Campaign for months now - today there is, for example

My instinct is always somewhat sceptical if not cynical where press motives are concerned, but the fact that the DT has been heavily supporting women's sport by arguing for gender equality, employing female sports people as columnists etc. for a long time tempers my sceptisim. They are definitely trying to appeal much more to women and younger people, and as far as TRA bollocks is concerned, coverage by the DT (and Times) is likely to be a hell of lot more useful than by the (would say that wouldn't they, except they're not) Guardian.
