My 7yo, Year 3!! has just announced in the bath that "George S says boys can be girls and it's just a little bit of surgery."

This is an all boys' school. Please someone help me not fly off the handle and make sure the school has not drunk the Koolaid and will nix it as strongly as I just have if George S says something in class like this.

At 7!!!

No that's wrong we're has he heard that at age 7

George S told him Grin Who seems to be one of the cool kids so my son took some persuading George S had it completely round his neck.

How can I check the school isn't peddling or condoning such drivel in a reasonably courteous way?

Ds said something similar at about 9. That one day he might wake up and find out he was a girl.

StealthPolarBear · 21/09/2018 20:29

That had come from a talk in school. I suspect mermaids

AsAProfessionalFekko · 21/09/2018 20:31

As I've said to DS many a time 'some kids talk a load of nonswnse'. He's now a lanky teen so it's 'some people talk crap'.

Is he to young to learn a out chromosomes?

First week in nursery my niece picked up a song that went:

Cinderella, Cinderella
Used to be a feller...

This was years ago. It was funny at the time. Now I think she'd be taught that by the teachers rather than the other kids.

I just went for the you have a penis (which he is very fond of Grin) so you're a boy and you'll always be a boy line. And followed it up with all the "girly" things he loves that he can do and all the "boy" things I do.

Surgery cannot change who you are. Only what you look like.

I'd just reassure your son he is great as he is and that kind of thinh is not for children.

CottonTailRabbit · 22/09/2018 08:48

Children tell each other inaccurate things about sex and bodies all the time at school.

PenguindreamsofDraco · 22/09/2018 10:04

Oh he's not interested in being a girl. My concern was that this came from PSHE (which would surprise me) or how to deal pre emptively with how the school would approach it if they heard a child say it and whether they have bought into that Fox and Owl bollocks book.
