proportion of transwomen v transmen

I'm just wondering - there seem be a lot more transwomen about than transmen. Does anyone know whether there are actually more transwomen than transmen, or are the transwoemn just a lot more active/vocal/present in the media?

And if there are actually more transwomen than transmen, why is this? Does gender dysphoria disproportionately affect the male-born, or are there are lot more male born autogynephiles than female born one? I've never even heard of a female-born AGP or what we used to call transvestites.

Sorry MNHQ if I've used any offending terminology there, really have tried hard not to but can't keep up with all the rules.

From memory, there are more transwomen than transmen - except if you look at teens, where there's a massive rise in teen girls IDing as boys. I looked for UK figures the other day, though, and couldn't find any on adults. They must be out there, though, hopefully someone else knows where to find them...

I guess they are mainly just trying to get on with their lives. I was interested to see post on Facebook the other day where they had posted an Economist article. That article was all about including transmen in the conversation. Queue shrieks from the transwomen saying IT'S ALWAYS ALL ABOUT MEN. Grin Pretty tragic to read actually.

"There shouldn't be an equal representation of voices. We must centre transwomen." I don't know how transmen put up with the narcissism. I really don't.

Ouf. Opression Olympics indeed.

CrackpotsArePots · 25/09/2018 06:59

Again with the 'being murdered'. Statistics do not support that assertion

Iused2BanOptimist · 25/09/2018 07:03

"Being murdered all day every day". Those heels are killers aren't they. Wink

sawdustformypony · 25/09/2018 07:05

Oh the irony of it ! Just like real women here when complaining about ‘whataboutery’. Ho ho.

ILuvBirdsEye · 25/09/2018 07:06

Not just Being murdered but all day everyday

CrackpotsArePots · 25/09/2018 07:08

literally

WhoWants2Know · 25/09/2018 07:10

That really doesn't leave a lot of time for hobbies.

"There shouldn't be an equal representation of voices. We must centre transwomen." I don't know how transmen put up with the narcissism. I really don't. Thats dreadful, in a sniggery sort of way

LittleMissedTheSunshine · 25/09/2018 10:08

If anything convinces me that actually, TWAM, it's this.

Of the 5000 or so people with a Gender Recognition Certificate in the UK just under 2000 are trans men. These are transsexuals, of course, because at present you need to be medically diagnosed as such to qualify for this.

The percentage split has been similar for some years.

The statistics with the wider transgender identifiers who currently do not qualify for a GRC have changed a lot in the past five years and in teenagers there are now more trans boys than trans girls.
