I suspect Cartimandua may be peak-transing a lot of people!

NicoAndTheNiners · 21/09/2018 13:15

I’ve just been reading this. Bonkers that he gets sacked as head of humanist society and editor of a flipping philosophy journal for trying to discuss the issue. Never mind what he said is biologically and scientifically correct.

I really worry about the lack of intelligence and common sense from some students these days, a lot of whom seem to be in positions of “power” either within their uni socs or the NUS.

ScreamingBird · 21/09/2018 13:41

It makes me have a strange sympathy with those who say that the educated elites are out of touch with the real world.

Up is down, in the New World Order.

TwistedStitch · 21/09/2018 16:05

Daily Mail now reporting it too. Over a thousand comments which mainly seem to say 'Eh? Of course women don't have penises!' Nobody is buying this shit.

Entitled/NPD men think those men who support assertive women are betraying their pack and hence turn upon them and savage them - says more about them that they are outing their true colours :)

stillathing · 21/09/2018 16:15

Sacking someone without following correct procedures seems like something you'd do if you wanted to scare other people away from expressing a similar view. That this movement will not tolerate debate is telling. That this movement gets away with not tolerating debate is chilling.

Daily Mail

6300 shares.

SunsetBeetch · 21/09/2018 17:03

Good that this story is gaining traction. If Angelos wants to take any legal action, I'd be happy to donate to a crwodfundee, whatever!

SunsetBeetch · 21/09/2018 17:04

*crowdfunder

RaininSummer · 21/09/2018 17:19

The Daily Mail are allowing comments now which a week ago were not being posted. Have even managed to mention the consultation so hope loads see it.

Figlessfig · 21/09/2018 19:57

Cartimandua (in the Times comments) did an exceptional job. You could just feel the wave of peaktrans moving through the comments.

FermatsTheorem · 21/09/2018 20:00

It's also prompted me to poke my head cautiously above the parapet and post something gender critical on the Times comments (closest I'd got before was to applaud one of Janice's articles).

So that's me out and proud in my real name, which I think is actually quite useful. Because if anyone tries to doxx me I can say "well, here I am, posting in my own name on a national newspaper's site. I'm respectful, I'm polite, my right to freedom of belief is enshrined in human rights law, what's the problem?"

RaininSummer · 21/09/2018 20:23

Yes, just read the comments. All the usual tropes about people with cancer, ed, gay etc.

AspieAndProud · 21/09/2018 20:47

crwodfundee sounds like a Welsh dessert. Probably made with fudge. If so, count me in!

AspieAndProud · 21/09/2018 20:51

He was also fired from his position as editor of Durham University's online magazine The Bubble

The irony!

JoggerBottom · 21/09/2018 21:16

I shared the DM article on FB. All comments were along the lines of 'this is ridiculous' and all comments were posted by women (surprise, surprise).

RedToothBrush · 21/09/2018 21:33

Now at 12,000 shares and 1700 comments

OvaHere · 21/09/2018 22:19

Amazing what response there is when they don't moderate the comments.

RedToothBrush · 21/09/2018 22:44

14000 shares 1800 comments.

It's done over 2000 shares an hour since 5pm.

OvaHere · 21/09/2018 22:58

That's 14000 people sharing it with some comment along the lines of 'Have you seen this? Can you believe someone was sacked for saying women don't have penises?'

Charliethefeminist · 21/09/2018 22:59

Wow the response and sharing is incredible

frogintheTyne · 21/09/2018 23:07

Interesting the DM stopped moderating the comments.

when I posted on this thread ( page 1 about midday), there were only about 20 comments, and all mentioned free speech, nothing about women - and at that time the comments were all being moderated.

I wonder at what point, and why, they decided to stop moderating comments?

RedToothBrush · 21/09/2018 23:10

On a story about free speech and the lack of it, moderating comments kind of looks well...

... If they were serious about the story moderating isn't compatible.

OvaHere · 21/09/2018 23:11

I'm guessing the floodgates broke and it was too difficult to wade through all the comments to find the few that made no reference to penises. Though they do usually just turn comments off at that point.

Perhaps some things are just too absurd for even The Mail.

NotMeOhNo · 22/09/2018 01:49

Cartimandua clearly expects people to unblinking obey the word of the umbrella, even when it involves adult nappies, rapists and other assorted porn addled. You can almost see the bewilderment. He's not used to being questioned on anything.
