Criminality by sex

A BBC report had an interesting quote:

Mass shootings by women are rare, with more than 95% of such attacks in the US carried out by men.

I doubt anyone will be surprised but good to have in acknowledged.

I think there has been at least one shooting by a man attributed to be by a woman. Those statistics will be meaningless soon.

MrsTerryPratchett · 21/09/2018 03:17

Don`t worry. Crime statistics by sex will soon become utter nonsense. A gift to MRAs.

GeorgeFayne · 21/09/2018 03:40

There is no consistency in reporting, and given the number of violent crimes we've seen from transgender individuals of late, it's incredibly confusing.

Thoughts on this? www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6186917/Transgender-teen-pleads-guilty-killing-parents.html

And unofficial news is that the recent shooting here in Maryland was by a FTM transgender individual. Interestingly, it has been reported as a woman shooter. If the reports are confirmed that Moseley was indeed a transman, is this not blatant misgendering? And why the double standard?

Just curious if there was any further reporting or investigation of the four "women" that attacked the young man in a subway ("tube?") earlier this year in Leicester?

Snochia Moseley's Facebook profile

ICantBelieveIDidThis · 21/09/2018 04:13

The mass killer is reported to be a FTM trans

Who knows what steroids/hormone 'therapy' and mental health issues are involved?

GeorgeFayne · 21/09/2018 05:09

ICantBelieve

Your link references the possibility of Moseley starting testosterone. Very interesting...

From the package insert for Depo-Testosterone (injectable form by Pfizer):

"DEPO-TESTOSTERONE is not indicated for use in women."

And under post-marketing adverse reactions, specifically psychiatric disorders: "Personality disorder, confusion, anger, aggression,
cognitive disturbance."

Draw your own conclusions.

DEPO-TESTOSTERONE is not indicated for use in women

Ah but what does that mean?

GeorgeFayne · 21/09/2018 14:03

Duke

I know. What if you're a male born in a woman's body? It's probably ok then because of your man brain, right? It's not a cross sex hormone, it's REPLACEMENT therapy.

Charliethefeminist · 21/09/2018 14:44

I think this is a bloke so the quote isn't relevant.

The Snochia Moseley case is horrible, but also odd. It seems to have come right out of the blue. Moseley had no record of violence but seems to have been behaving out of character recently, getting a lot of traffic violations.

Is it definite that Moseley was a biological female who may or may not have started taking testosterone in order to transition to male? One news report I saw said that Moseley had told family members about being trans a couple of years ago, they'd been supportive and it hadn't come as a surprise. Pure speculation on my part, but I wonder if this was homophobia again - in some circles (socially conservative, deeply religious) if you can't have a conventional heterosexual gender conforming child, better to have a trans child than a gay one, because you can rationalise being trans as a medical problem that doctors can fix.

MipMipMip · 21/09/2018 18:49

The quote remains relevent as it highlights different behaviour patterns between sexes. When we are being told "well women do it too" having these stats acknowledged, and read by as many as possible, furthers the case for treating to two sexes differently at some times. Also if the wider public see things like this enough it will seem wrong when they are told both sexes commit equally. You need people to see and be aware of the correct facts in order to make them realise when something doesn't ring true.
