Looks like his maleness was has worked for him and he gets to be recognised as a top female too.

Just why?

Saturday's Times:

www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/news/anger-over-women-s-business-honour-for-cross-dressing-banker-h0gv3l7nw

Sorry, I don't have a share token. You can sign up for 3 articles a week though.

OlennasWimple · 22/09/2018 00:29

Fermats - long before I switched to the Telegraph for my news because I couldn't stomach the Grauniad any more, I would occasionally treat myself to a print copy of the Telegraph for the crosswords and for Alex and Matt Smile

stealthsquirrelnutkin · 22/09/2018 01:32

This video of Nicci Take explaining who he is (not misgendering, he says he is a man) and why he started coming to work in drag is interesting.

I wouldn't have a problem with him gender bending, if he hadn't just taken an award away from an actual female.

Could one of the people choosing the top 100 female executives have had a hidden agenda?

FermatsTheorem · 22/09/2018 04:31

That is interesting stealth. Not sure I buy it because there seems to still be a conflation of "women are..." and "women are socialised to be..." going on (I say that as someone whose instinctive reaction to someone coming to me with a problem is to come up with solutions, to the point where I have to say to myself explicitly sometimes "hang on, this particular situation calls for listening, not sticking your oar in" - and I'm female). And the women as prey thing - yes, I can see this must have come as a revelation to Nicci, but if he really believes he's a man, and is showing solidarity with women rather than wanting to be one, why not accept an award as a man.

It snacks a little bit of beardy Alex all over again. Why isn't he broadening the bandwidth of what it is to be male, rather than what it is to be female?

(Also the bits about being mummy pissed me right off. Maybe it's because the way I parent my son involves being both nurturing and setting healthy boundaries, which is how I'd see disciplining a child in a healthy way. Whereas Nicci seems to see mummy as nurturing and the carrier of all the world's problems, and daddy as the disciplinarian who bullies - not a healthy picture.)

Timelady

Thanks for linking Lucy Bannerman now takes a place as another journalist speaking the truth.

Shampooeeee · 22/09/2018 07:14

Is there an award for top 100 attention seekers?
I bank with Credit Suisse and I’m really annoyed about how they are handling this.
It’s a fucking insult to women.

TimeLady · 22/09/2018 07:15

The Times has used a highly unflattering photo Grin

DuggeesWoggle · 22/09/2018 07:16

Kristina Harrison, an LGBT activist who was born male but transitioned 20 years said ago, she would never accept a place on an all-women shortlist as it was “insulting” to women who faced different challenges. “Being a woman is not a costume you can put on, on some days and not on others. The idea that you can become a woman by donning a wig and a dress is deeply sexist".

She gets it. And I don't mind calling her a she.

CrackpotsArePots · 22/09/2018 07:22

I think that it's really really important to keep saying that this man doesn't just represent one unfairness. He is one of the sorry ban of TRAs with the ear of govt and charities who are systematically pushing for self-ID and therefore the dismantling of women's sex based rights.

He is the most extreme example because he doesn't even pretend to be a women. But he is no different from all the penis-havers who call themselves transwomen. He's more enraging because he doesn't even bother to hide his misogyny even a little bit.

The fact that the GRA even exists bothers me a lot. Men should never have been granted the legal right to be called women. It was clear that this would be exploited. It was a reflection that no-one gave a shit about actual women

CrackpotsArePots · 22/09/2018 07:23

props to Kristina Harrison for saying that though

CrackpotsArePots · 22/09/2018 07:30

band of TRAs

SophoclesTheFox · 22/09/2018 07:43

Well done, Lucy!

Mr Bunce declined to comment, eh.

He "chose to be nominated in the female category". Come the fuck off it Phil/Pips/Pippa, I think we all know you nominated yourself.

AngryAttackKittens · 22/09/2018 07:46

Do we know if ballot stuffing is possible? Because if so I wonder how often Pip voted for Pipself.

2rebecca · 22/09/2018 07:57

The list compiler say the list of top women isn't about actual women but those doing work to increase diversity. I hate all this pushing of "diversity" for its own sake. I bet the top 100 men list isn't about men pushing diversity but just about men being successful at their actual job. Why can't the woman's list just be about females who are successful executives.

TerfsUp · 22/09/2018 07:58

Credit to Kristina Harrison, you have my respect.

Pip Bunce, on the other hand, can fuck off with that 'I'm gender fluid, which means that I can accept an award for women' bullshit.

And good for The Times. I notice The Guardian hasn't reported this. So, business as usual.

rightreckoner · 22/09/2018 08:12

Sorry Suki that doesn’t wash.

There is a separate list in this same set of awards for men who work to support women in the workplace. Bunce could have got one of those - except he’s never done a damn thing for women at work but caricature and insult them. You’ve just added to the insult.

Handsoffmyrights · 22/09/2018 08:15

Thanks Timelady. I haven't even read past this yet 'In previous interviews, Mr Bunce described climbing the career ladder as a man and waiting until he was “very established” and “quite senior” at the investment bank before starting to cross-dress at work four years ago'

So he used his privilege as a senior male executive to start cross dressing to work.

I can't (and wouldn't) dress like that for work. My bosses would call me in. I'd probably get perved on by creepy men (though in fairness when I have worn a bloody buttoned up shirt and trousers the middle aged guy in the office has still ogled my tits).

He can probably parade around in impractical clothing but has he had to work then dash to the school run/ASDA while dressed like that? I'll bet the answers "no". I bet his wife did that while he climbed the ladder.

But because HE is senior he used that entitlement to wear whatever he likes. That's what I call inequality.

If he really lived in a woman's working shoes (certainly not slingbacks and stiletoes) he'd realise we can't just dress how we want. It's not just the fact he's dressed like an explosion in an Ann Summer's shop (think that was Lisa M's phrase) but the arrogance that he should be treated differently.

Rant over.

TerfedOff · 22/09/2018 08:22

Last year Nikki Take was on the LGBT top 100 award so it's not as if they don't have the appropriate list to put these people on.

They are not and never will be female.

Howcansanepeoplesaynothing · 22/09/2018 08:39

I’m delighted the Times picked this up. I sent the Twitter thread of responses to CS on to some German and Swiss papers yesterday.

Let’s see how brave and stunning the London CS D&I team thinks Pips is, if the mothership pick up the phone and say retail customers are complaining.

CrackpotsArePots · 22/09/2018 08:47

AAK

Pipself Grin

Oh how we are forced to mangle the Queen's English!

AngryAttackKittens · 22/09/2018 08:53

Conclusion of the Times article.

Mr Bunce declined to comment.

I wonder if they'll get any aggrieved comments about that. If so please let some of them be from Pips.

R0wantrees · 22/09/2018 08:56

There is a current thread about India Willoughby's anngry response
IW quote:
"It’s an officially endorsed embarrassment. People playing with gender classed the same as those with real gender problems. Disgrace. Won’t hear a single body within LGBT say the awarding of a “Woman in Biz” award to a man is wrong. It is. On many levels. I’m a woman.

Really happy for all these diff groups getting their freedom, but where’s my freedom? Who’s educating or fighting for people who need to transition, who are heterosexual, who live under a Rainbow umbrella? LGBT actively PROMOTES many stigmas TS women battle. It’s crazy."

ChattyLion · 22/09/2018 08:59

Thank you for the share token for the Times.
I think I get what’s going on now.

Suki Sandhu, chief executive of the business rankings, said: “Lists are compiled to recognise those doing great work to further gender diversity, and this is our key criteria for inclusion.”

Then on Twitter, mobile.twitter.com/MrSukiSandhu/status/1042764190161756160

SO excited to see the publication of the
@FT & @HERoesinB Champions of Women in Business 2018 lists. The #gender conversation is now more important than ever & it's crucial that we all play a part in championing #women in #business.’

So as he makes clear- this isn’t an award about recognising personal achievement of women who have succeeded and excelled in a misogynistic environment.

It’s about the gender conversation which is more important than ever and those doing great work to further gender diversity.

Not about women admirably persevering despite sex based discrimination at all.

Question is: why does a women’s achievement award need to be given over to promoting gender diversity?
Why can’t women continue to have their own award and gender diversity have its own awards?

rightreckoner · 22/09/2018 09:07

question is: why does a women’s achievement award need to be given over to promoting gender diversity?

Because women are just the mules for the diversity dudes to ride. The destination is their power and advancement.
