Mother's response to Penny Morduant's urgent inquiry into ROGD -

Penny Morduant has ordered an investigation into the 4000% increase in teenage girls seeking gender treatment.

A mother tweeted a response:

"My baby's caught up in that number. As parents we resisted permanent changes and medical paths and opted for no rushed decisions, therapy and to ride puberty out. #watchfulwaiting #rogd"

And, dear god, the pile on she's had from certain twitter TAs. This is the social pressure to transition - being applied to both parents and children.

Some of the replies:

"The changes your child will experience in puberty are permanent. Blockers are only there to bide time. I hope your kid survives your abuse and doesn't off themselves, they deserve better. But when they stop talking to you, you'll deserve it."

"I really hope your kid doesn’t commit suicide as a teenager. I hope they cut you out of their life and bloom into an amazing adult."

"You’re the problem here. Your kid will hate you if they don’t commit Suicide first."

"Because your bigotry about being trans is far more important than your child's wellbeing and happiness. How dare you call your child ' your baby' when you are denying their agency and true self. How about supporting, instead of controlling your child?"

This last one is what gc parents and feminists have been warning about all along, surely? - that this is a form of grooming - parents are accused of "controlling" their child, of "denying agency"?! I thought it was pretty well-established in law and safeguarding that a child does not have the maturity required to make such a decision that could have such a serious impact on the rest of their adult life.

Where has this narrative come from? Why the pressure - aggressive, threatening pressure - for instant positive affirmation of pre-pubescent/pubescent children? - social transition, puberty blockers - an almost inevitable gateway to sex hormones and surgery. A life-long dependence on drugs that we have little knowledge of the long-term affects of, and those side-effects we do know of, are not good.

Honestly, I really hope this investigation blows this stuff wide open.

Every time I read these threads I am horrified yet again at what is being done to our children and to their families. The utter evil of those promoting and financially benefitting from this leaves me speechless.

The anime people calling for the consumption of Lupron are such fucking stereotypes.

Yes, thoughts to all those parents struggling through this irl. Thanks

I reckon half the beardy woke bros / anime characters who abuse women on Twitter don't really believe that men can become women and vice versa - I think half of them just use it as a nice excuse to abuse women, and virtue signal at the same time.

I hope that Mordaunt et al will ensure that parents watching their children being groomed online will be included in this research

Starkstaring · 19/09/2018 07:03

Tammy and Anchor you have my sincere sympathy too.

It is so heartening that there are so many women on this board who get it. I am profoundly grateful to those who are speaking out and campaigning irl - that's really hard to do when you are in our situation.

I would reiterate the need to contact your mp. Mine had no idea what was going on with young people nor the scale of it until I wrote.

DereksSexyPyjamas · 19/09/2018 07:53

Apologies since I haven’t rtft yet, but the constant comments about young people killing themselves must be extraordinarily damaging. Sad If anything is going to contribute to an increased suicide rate it’s going to be responses like the ones the mother got in the OP.

Do they not realise this? Or do they think it’s acceptable collateral damage?

Lancelottie · 19/09/2018 10:36

They don't seem to view parents (mothers especially) as real people. Those responses are vicious.

And confusing. I read a few of them ('This is child abuse!') and thought they were arguing for the opposite side, that stopping puberty and promoting transition was child abuse.

How can it be child abuse to take a healthy child with no medical conditions and not give them drugs?

And how can you deliberately pause a child's growth to maturity and then expect them to become mature enough to make a lifechanging decision?

JoggerBottom · 19/09/2018 14:15

For the parents posting on MN / Twitter etc Flowers.

The replies are heartbreaking. It doesn't appear that the TAs commenting have children of their own and seem barely out of childhood themselves. They have been brought up in a world where internet = truth and that those who shout the loudest online = win.

Oh no, I don't believe this - that Emily Westhaver person suggesting Anastrozole (Arimidex)!!!

Anastrozole is a post Breast Cancer drug for menopausal women. I was prescribed this for 3 years after BC treatment and had to have big discussions with my Oncologist about it due to the increase risk of womb cancer when taking this drug. It also interferes with bone cell production so I had to have a bone scan before I started to check my bone density was healthy enough. I can't believe this person so casually throws that out there like this drug is firstly appropriate and that it is risk free.

As far as I can see they have no medical expertise. I'm really shocked by this.
