Women on the left are responsible for austerity

CarrotyO · 17/09/2018 21:59

I've heard it said that women on the left actually support and are therefore in some way responsible for austerity. This is because both Labour and the Tories support austerity. Therefore any woman who supports Labour, or the Left in general, also knowingly and consciously supports austerity and are therefore also responsible for the 1000s of deaths of disabled people caused by austerity. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

And doing that to a woman with THESE activists could get someone killed and it wont be the women with the politician friends and the trade union power, it'l be someone like me or Posie. Thats the truth. We are now managing risk from a culture of mentally unwell activistys who are realising they have lost and blame the women whose names they recognise and it could have got someone killed and was entirely about protecting identuty and power of elite women who actively sold austerity while pretending to oppose it.

LangCleg · 18/09/2018 16:04

If you only milk the goats and don't eat them, you end up having to kill all the baby billy goats anyway. True story.

Jus' sayin'.

Goats milk fudge is bloody gorgeous, if anyone's interested.

AngryAttackKittens · 18/09/2018 16:05

And now I'm sad. See? I'm just not cut out for this return to nature thing.

LangCleg · 18/09/2018 16:08

Don't worry. I save the baby billy goats by buying a pack of goat mince at every farmers market.

I won't be doing this with locusts come Carroty's glorious day, however. My back will volunteer to be first against the wall.

I think it telling that McD said in today's web chat that he had consulted women's groups re self ID (ducked the definition of a woman) and when asked who responded WPUK. Now that concerns me as WPUK say "We believe that respectful dialogue is vital if we are to achieve a progressive law which upholds the rights of everyone."

We know that the rights of some are predicated on taking away from women - so consensus can't be achieved with them. Where does WPUK stand on this? -Kristina Harrison a socialist Transwomanas who they gave a platform to frames the hatred against women by TRAs as from those on the right but as we have seen, much venom comes from those on the "woke left". So will the woke left's misogyny again be let off the hook and disappeared?

LangCleg · 18/09/2018 16:11

Why do people say they will meet/have met with WPUK but we never find out what was said at these meetings? Am I being adequately represented?

lisamuggeridge · 18/09/2018 16:12

Both Kristina Harrison and Ruth Serwotka are full on Corbyniutes who are a threat of fascism and actively excluded jewish people and women. This is not a cause for no platforming. Its not a cause for no platforming if you are the woman who demands that motherhood is not mentioned while austerity is hitting mothers, even if you had the power to actually affact change and for that to impact but is a no platforming thing to have off colour tweets you made as a mother and not a public figure? Oh by the way we want this resource women built to be a Corbynite tool? Its just the way the left do things. Its not a reflection of the women of WPUK, the left have always relied on a few people strategically placed to do this. Its not solidarity its abusive and horribleand harms women.

I'm very far from an expert and not the person to whom you addressed your enquiry....However...

Apparently, this is a decent time of year for making squirrel pate - post-hibernation is bad as there isn't enough fat to give decent flavour.

As a hint for the skin - in the Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green is a Koala Bear in a Teddy Bear style. The Koala is made out of kangaroo skin. So, maybe a post-apocalyptic business opportunity in making a New World range of Steiff bears from squirrel pelt?

Dragonagain · 18/09/2018 16:24

LOL OP. It's exceptionally disingenuous to conclude from 'control over our bodies is a basic human right' that I don't support that very thing.

At least you admit that disagreement with your proposal wrong think makes the personal accusation acceptable in your eyes. That's startlingly honest! And just startling.

Have deregged and reregged today, BTW. I am Dragoncake. Off to weave beads into my bison's mane and stalk squirrels now.

It does sound a bit like making overpopulation uniquely women's problem to sort out. How about promoting vasectomy? Control over our own bodies and reproductive systems is a basic human right. Not a tool to make us further responsible for solving all the world's problems.

lisamuggeridge · 18/09/2018 16:25

Turns out the skin just pops off like a rabbit, I definitely think a pate will work. I'll salt some slugs to put in the blender with it.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 18/09/2018 16:27

Ah that makes sense Lisa - I suggested to the aforesaid person that her support and defence of Aimee Challenor was misplaced. I got a strong push back and dismissal of my concerns. The same happened when I questioned the unconditional support of Jess Philips despite her support of Stonewall's refuge report that overrode women's concerns.

I was surprised. So my take was a certain person didn't seem to be on women's side or prepared to stand up for them if it meant challenging existing networks. Again why is constructive feedback so problematic? The sisterhood is subsumed to the identity politics at play. Why aren't networks robust enough to stand some criticism - it all gets lost in the good v bad, left v right instead of women standing up for other women, irrespective of their politics. Seems like that takes maturity that is in short supply in some women with the microphone/leadership roles.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 18/09/2018 16:30

Yes my concern as well

lisamuggeridge · 18/09/2018 16:32

Is what happens when you challenge power. You see it. You cant see it till you challenge it. And when you challenge a power structure you can see is a problem, it isnt a problem for others nad it threatens their shit so they attack you. Its the same with political cultures, domestic abuse, anything.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 18/09/2018 16:46

That's my "problem"/s - I see wrong and I call it out - and get shot down often - people don't like/don't know how to handle their blind spot being revealed - and instead of saying thank you and let's see what I can do to rectify it, they attack, downplay, lie - all to protect their "reputation".

We are a mighty force for good on here as I imagine many of us have had to self-reflect in the face of warranted and/or gratuitous criticism. I learnt to put my ego aside and I observe that in others on here. I certainly had to work hard to learn what I was responsible for and what not. I hate the "say one thing and do another".......the hypocrisy of that stance and the unwillingness to take the log out of one's eye ......

AngryAttackKittens · 18/09/2018 16:50

The blatant lying used to make me enraged, but I've learned that pointing at the lie and going "hmm" can be enlightening for others.

lisamuggeridge · 18/09/2018 16:51

Ruth, Kristina etc will be viewing this as a way to reinforce Labour left positoiun and McDonnell is gearing up for leadership and they will do to WPUK what they do with everything they touch. Steal it and distort it and what they did to Posie was about that, I doubt very much the woman who wrote the statement even understood that was what they were doing, but Ruth did and so did the elite women at the heart and I feel really terrible because WPUK have done some amazing stuff and this needed to be called out because its covert abuse. But it seriously could have got Posie or her kids seriously hurt and if we hadnt said thats not acceptable it would have happened to someone else. I wish I was overstating the threat that women face because of this but am not. I have security arrangements, I have a gym opposite my house who keeps his cctv on my house at my request, I have to discuss risk with my ex all the time and that was not ok.

lisamuggeridge · 18/09/2018 16:52

I dont know any woman in WPUK who signed up to preventing discussion of austerity and putting women and kids at risk but thats what happens when the Labour left do this. Hence risk of fascism. Its always covert, its narcissistic abuse and it needs to be made explicit, brought out and described, an that will always get people attacking you. Rather people attacked me than this happened without anyone noticing.

IAmLurkacus · 18/09/2018 16:56

Thanks for all your posts on this Lisa you’ve put into words things I’ve instinctively felt and been unable to articulate.

That right there is what I call brave and stunning. Standing up for what you know is right, even though you know you are going to get abused for it, Lisa you are a courageous woman indeed, and you have my thanks for standing up for working class women, their voices desperately need to be heard.

gamesconsoler · 18/09/2018 17:03

I literally don't have a clue what this thread is about!

deepwatersolo · 18/09/2018 17:04

[Feminist leftist politician] on the ONLY occasion a politician mentioned the way austerity impacted mothers, demanded it didnt happen again cos it made her feel excluded cos she wasnt a mother

And you guys moaned the other discussions on this thread were Through the Looking Glass on acid stuff.

DJLippy · 18/09/2018 17:13

Re your squirrel situation Lisa, you should ask Norman Tebbit he wrote a roadkill cook book*. Come the revolution/total system collapse can he come and live in our commune? We will need to reproduce with someone after all....

I haven't managed to forage any gin thinking of heading out in a bit. Stealing is the same as foraging right?

*actually true

Figlessfig · 18/09/2018 17:15

Dear god, this is mental. I don’t understand a word of it. Didn’t know I was thick until ... ooh 5 minutes ago.
