UK Women's Self-Exclusion Survey www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/G6ZGZC9

Came across this on my local feminist network FB page this morning (am not in Scotland, but still) regarding whether would or already do, remove themselves from places based on "gender self-id". You may wish to complete it also.

I'm afraid I was rather cross in my answers. I may have used all-caps in places. Grin

Thanks for this. Do you know which group has put this together?

silentcrow · 17/09/2018 17:16

The survey just says "Scottish Women and Girls". I will ask the original poster in my group where she found it. But it has no identifying questions, you don't even have to give demographics and certainly no email.

It's our group, Women and Girls in Scotland, and while it is part of work we are doing re Scotland, we are seeking the views of UK women, so you don't have to live in Scotland to respond to it. We will be launching our website when we are ready to launch our pack (sometime in October or November), and this survey will be informating that work. We very much appreciate any time women here can take to fill it in.

howonearthdidwegethere · 17/09/2018 17:19

It's an excellent survey, leyat. Thank you!

It's precisely the kind of survey Scotland's self-identified "feminist" charities should have been carrying out prior to generating their responses to the GRA consultation up here.

Will promote as much as a I can. Hope you get lots of responses!

averylongtimeago · 17/09/2018 17:20

I have also filled this in. I too might have got a bit cross.....

silentcrow · 17/09/2018 17:20

Screen grab of the survey intro. Will update when I find out where it came from.

Done.

silentcrow · 17/09/2018 17:29

Grand. Cheers for clarifying, leyat - I can pm you with where I found it if you're looking to measure the reach?

And I apologise for my very ranty capitals (not really).

Bump.

terryleather · 17/09/2018 17:51

Bumping and to say it doesn't take long to fill in!

Labradoodliedoodoo · 17/09/2018 17:56

Says clos,..?

Prestonsflowers · 17/09/2018 18:13

I’ve just done the survey and I think I need a strong drink now, and for my blood pressure to come back down

user1468233640 · 17/09/2018 18:26

Delurking to comment, Leyay. I seem to have lost my own username.

I've just filled this in too - and my BP is up there with everyone elses but it was good to have an honest rant!

Hope you don't mind me asking a couple of questions, please?

  1. How are you going to know if all the answers are coming from actual women? Because the minute this is picked up, the (redacted) will be all over it like a rash.
  1. I appreciate you are after UK wide responses but I'd have liked a chance to state which country (Scotland) I'm from. Might have made it easier to argue against this here?

Yes it did. Share by word of mouth iirc

bd67th · 17/09/2018 19:49

Didn't the survey come with a request not to share on MN?

SMH.

SwiftNC · 17/09/2018 19:54

It was inevitable it would get out, just a question of how long before that happened.

bd67th · 17/09/2018 19:58

Didn't the survey come with a request not to share on MN?

SMH.

Sorry, I should expand my acronyms. That's the highly shortened form of "yes, I can see why the survey would come with a plea not to post it in a place where trans activists are likely to patrol, because we know from experience that TAs love ballot-stuffing, e.g. Aimee Challenor's GRA response form with the answers already prefilled". OP, I suggest you report your own post, and leyat, I suggest you change the url if you can.

BlardyBlar · 17/09/2018 20:00

Done! I also used all capitals. The word “never” seemed inadequate otherwise.

No need to delete the thread, it is correct that we were initially aiming to have our survey sent out via women's groups, including organisations like Engender Scotland (they have not yet said if they will share it with their members, but we have asked if they will) and we are hoping WEP will too, and of course word of mouth. But we realised that it would actually be better to post more publicly, even though it might get gamed, we really do just want the best chance of getting a broad range of responses from women and since we don't yet have our website up (we are planning on doing that when we launch our proposals pack) posting on public forums was the next best thing.

So we're sorry for any confusion, please just share freely, and again, we very much appreciate your time in filling the survey out.

Sure? It was posted to my local group with nothing much other that "here's a survey you might want to do", so I had no idea of the WoM thing.

Ok, I apologise, I've jumped to an invalid conclusion there. Female people who think TWAW would be entitled to fill it anyway, amirite? It would only be male-bodied people who shouldn't?

Ideally, we'd stop female people on the street to survey them. Any online survey will be prone to selection bias.
