How's your 'sexual market value'? :D

Variously entertained and disgusted by tweets people are sharing of MRA/PUA types going on about women's 'sexual market value'. Apparently as women, our 'SMV' starts waning in our mid 20s and is gone by 35! Whereas men can keep it until they're older by being rich and successful.

Funny how none of them consider that some of us might be quite happy to not be seen as a fuckable commodity, and that we don't necessarily base out self worth around how shaggable men think we are.

Time for a party?

Materialist my DH is 23 years my senior We have been together for 26 years Hes 68 and has health problems including COPD.

I would not want to date a man my own age and i certainly wouldnt date a younger man.

Most of them have been too brainwashed into thinking that a womans body hair is dirty. You can see it reflected in these boards sometimes and in the reaction ive seen on Twitter towards womens body hair on that stupid Naked Attraction programme.

On one of the old dating threads on the Relationships board someone recognized a bloke that shed been dating on there Was a right car crash!

These types of men dont want a woman to date them They want a woman to audition for them and that bloke on the dating thread was the same.

The expectations on women now are just too high. Especially for women on a low income who cant afford to fulfill all these grooming expectations and get nasty misogynistic comments because of it.

Nah If i was single i would still want no part in it.

The Naked Attraction obsession with shaving piecing and inking everything annoys me. I see a lot of naked bodies as a GP. Most are still fairly natural looking. I presume it's just who applies though as I'd never go on the show. The most attractive person is often rejected first. Plus don't think I've ever seen a man I fancy naked and thought "Oh no" so disagree with the premise behind the series.

Latest one I've seen is about how women's eggs are their most precious commodity so they shouldn't 'waste them' by sleeping with lots of guys during their 20s. Grin I don't think that's how eggs work mate.

I'd love to know how that particular fool thinks eggs work. We should make him create a flowchart to explain what he thinks happens to a woman's eggs if she has lots of sex with lots of different men, versus lots of sex with one man, versus no sex at all.

I find it fascinating. I think it just shows how little these MRA types understand about life and the world.

The most important thing really for later life is companionship, and I know quite a few single, never married/never long term relationship blokes over 40 who feel this lack keenly. They are lonely, simple as. They come home to empty flats every day.

All their other friends have partners or wives; most have children, so their friendship groups don't have much social capacity anymore. It can be a very isolating situation to be in if you don't make the effort to get involved with something outside of work.

Sexual market value, my arse. What they don't realise is that over 35, that kind of thing doesn't matter anymore because people's needs and desires in a partner become far more complex (unless you are Mick Jagger who has just never grown up).

Bear with me.

On another thread, a PP wrote: If I, as a woman, looked down and saw I had male genitalia I'd be horrified - surely they would be if they had genuine body dysphoria. But no, they love their penises

This jumped out at me because of the body switch films.

The more usual one is where an adult and child end up in an inadvertent body swap.

I can think of films where the male protagonist (after death) 'was body-swapped to a female body and cue the comedy of being delighted to discover own breasts and showing them off as a desirable consumer item to male best friends (who've been alerted to the swap) . E.g., Switch www.imdb.com/title/tt0103016/?ref_=rvi_tt

The Hot Chick is where the increase in sexual marketing value is made particularly explicit.

the now criminal in a woman's body has discovered he/she has a marketable quality in the form of being a "hot chick". As hard as Rob Schneider's Jessica is working towards reversing the curse, Rachel McAdams' criminal is working just as hard to use it before he/she loses it, including shaking it on a stage for dollar bills.

www.imdb.com/title/tt0302640/?ref_=ttls_li_tt

And, all of this is packaged and consumed as family-friendly/comedy categories.
