I was lucky enough to see a preview last night of Sylvia at the Old Vic, the musical about the Pankhurst family.

Can I say, sell your children, your dog, anything you need to do to get a ticket. It’s absolutely brilliant - both funny and emotional. Beverley Knight is wonderful as is Maria Omakinwa (Sylvia Pankhurst) and Carly Bawden (Clementine Churchill amongst others). Hugely recommended. Has anyone else seen it?

No - but I wanted to call DD Sylvia, but DH wouldn't have it - too old fashioned. It would be such a good name for a 20 something this year.................

The musical genre seems to be covering interesting subjects in the last few years.

Oh yes, I thought of calling DD Sylvia too! More after Plath than Pankhurst, though actually Sylvia is my favourite of the Pankhursts by a country mile.

Thanks for the tip, OP. Wouldn't mind seeing this, though I don't normally like musicals.

Not seen this one but they did a fantastic show about mental health through Alice in Wonderland last year, Mad Hatter's Tea Party maybe. Their other work is fab too.
