“Botelho, from Voluntown, started running track in the sixth grade. She gravitated to the sprints.

Looking at the transgender athletes having so much success in the 100 and 200, we looked at it and said we needed to change what we were doing,” Morth told the Norwich Bulletin. “We needed to get out of those events. I had wanted Kalli’Ana to be a hurdler for while. She’s a great athlete.”

So Botelho left the 100 and 200 behind."

"And so she did. In June when Miller [transgender] won the 100 and 200 at the New England Championships, Botelho won the 300 hurdles with a personal record of 44.19 seconds."

Botelho said:

“But when I saw Andraya come out, I was like, this is going to suck. I’m going to be as respectful as possible. I have looked at her Instagram. She has wanted to be a girl, how she wants to identify herself, for the longest time.

“The newest transgender, I’m not as fond of the situation. In the indoor season (Miller) ran as a boy, practiced, competed as a boy. And then decided to change gender to a girl for the outdoor season, which really put a toll on the girls who worked maybe four years and had it ripped away from them.”

So who decided that sport is separated by gender and not sex?

I've never seen one rational explanation as to what 'gender' has to do with sporting ability. (Because there isn't one). Iirc the IOC committee which decided on allowing transwomen with ridiculously high testosterone levels compared to the top of the women's range was 3 XX women, one XY intersex woman, 2 TW and 6 other males.

It's just depressing, isn't it?

ImPreCis · 14/09/2018 19:42

But what happens when a boy decides he wants to run the girls 300 hurdles?
What are girls going to be left with? Speed knitting? Even that’s probably too pink and sparkly to be left to natal women.

don't think it's remotely sensitive or complex - or it shouldn't be. Males should not be competing against females, regardless of how they identify.

Agree.

I can't remember the name of that total goon on here a couple of months ago that suggested that women branch out into alternative sports like "ducking under a bar" that would play to our strengths and disadvantage men?

What a prize plum he was. Dim even by the very low (female ducking) bar of of FWR goaders Grin

It’s depressing, but well done to that mama - she risk assessed, made a plan for her daughter that would allow her to keep competing without having her self esteem destroyed AND spoke out.

In a climate where our political representatives are cowed and women all over the world are afraid to tweet under their real names, that’s pretty darn awesome.

Yes, she phrased very carefully, more so than should be necessary, but it is necessary.
Look at what Posie and her kids are being subjected to.

Male bodies have no place in women’s sport. Aaarrrrgggh.

It was Snappity.
