Via the excellent Prof. Kathleen Stock:

twitter.com/SamBarber1910/status/1038414373977550848

At the 2018 Connecticut State track & field championships, of the 6 medalists in the men's and women's 100 meters finals, 5 were biologically male.

Some good comments in that Twitter thread:

It's as if someone asked the monkey's paw to find a way to get equal prize money for women's sport
“You have some people who believe men are stronger and faster” ... that’d be those people who’ve noticed that every single men’s record is faster/longer/heavier/higher than every single women’s record I guess.

Yes do Trinity1976 it really highlights the destruction done in the name of so called inclusion and so called equality.

Refusing to recognise difference, results in discrimination and decimation of women's sport.

Jeez. I wonder whether the people who minimise the capacity of a male body to out perform women in many sports have ever done any sports themselves? I remember the year when my previously all female primary school welcomed a couple of male members of staff. Weedy little men, yet they completely smashed the Teachers' 100m race on Sports Day (which had, to that point, usually been won by yours truly). I recall coming out of the blocks next to my male colleague, and seeing his ass speed ahead as I tried to keep up, thinking "Wtf!?" I have played lots of friendly sports with men, jogged with men etc, but hadn't quite appreciated the difference that is so apparent in competitive contexts.

howlsmovingcastle84 · 11/09/2018 22:13

I run 3/4 times a week, all weathers, and consider myself pretty fit and a good runner. My husband does literally zero exercise, 7 days a week. Every so often as part of his RAF reserve (non-physical!) role he has to take a fitness test. This test is proceeded by 'crap-I need to do some exercise'. He'll join me on my runs sometimes and can honestly flaw me in terms of speed! It's very frustrating and that's just a friendly run around the park with the DH. I can't imagine losing out in a competitive event.

Trinity1976 · 11/09/2018 22:37

10% is actually huge! If we end up in a situation with a significant number of males competing as women it is the case that we will no longer see any women qualifying for the major events.

For example, I heard a couple of weeks ago that Lynsey Sharp won an 800 metre race in just under two minutes - I can't remember which competition it was. She's our best female 800 metre runner at the moment, having represented Britain at the Olympics and plenty of other international events. Yet I know a teenage boy who can run faster than her, and he's not even fastest in my region. There are 40 under-17 boys in the UK who have beaten her PB this year. If you were to look at the number of adult men faster than her the number would be huge. That's just an example.

timetodothis · 11/09/2018 22:48

Ths needs to be bumped.

timetodothis · 11/09/2018 22:48

Numerous times.

timetodothis · 11/09/2018 22:49

If this doesn't make people sit up and think, then I don't know what will.

timetodothis · 11/09/2018 22:50

I also agree with the poster who pointed out that there are high profile people in the sporting world who could speak out but won't. The silence is deafening.
It's beyond shocking.

timetodothis · 11/09/2018 22:52

I see someone mentioned Lyndsey Sharpe.
I'd forgotten about her. I remember she was vilified and crucified for daring to speak out about how unfair sport is for women in the current climate.

CarolDanvers · 11/09/2018 23:02

This should be in AIBU.

SPOFS · 11/09/2018 23:06

We need a trans woman to break a natal woman's world record, or, better yet, beat a natal man's world record! That will make a few people wake up.

My school wasn’t particularly sporty, but girls played hockey in the winter.

We had PE lessons every winter, focusing on technique, the different kind of hits, the rules of the game etc. Plus playing full matches. All the while the boys were playing rugby and football on the other side of the field.

One day towards the end of Year 11 the PE teachers must have been having an off day as they decided to amalgamate the two lessons. The boys were simply handed hockey sticks and told to play the girls.

It was carnage. They were taller, faster, stronger and had no prior knowledge of the rules. One boy tackled so fiercely he managed to break the stick. How no one got injured I do not know. Funnily enough that was the last game of hockey I ever played - I hadn’t minded the game, but I never chose it again and dropped sports as soon as I could.

FermatsTheorem · 11/09/2018 23:45

Materialist - god that link: "Tifanny’s performance is made even more impressive when taken into consideration she did it against an unbeaten squad with three Olympic gold medalists in it: Fabiana Claudino, Fernanda Garay, and Waleska Menezes."

Nothing suspicious here... oh no. And Tiffany is a dainty 6'3" plus - typical height for a woman, that. Though I'm glad to see someone speaking out.

"Brazilian volleyball legend Ana Paula Henkel was one of the many who voiced her opinion on Tifanny’s record setting night:"

“We have applauded the IOC and its policies in favor of fair sports in the past. Now women who have honored these same anti-doping policies for decades, who have been clean in countless tests since the age of 16, have to watch a biological man break their records.”

ShrodingersSturdyPyjamas · 11/09/2018 23:46

In the States, it isn't just about winning a race, it is about scholarships to universities and colleges. It is about trashing women's futures.

FermatsTheorem · 11/09/2018 23:51

Yes, Schrodinger - that point's been made in connection with Yearwood and his fellow cheats before.

OlennasWimple · 12/09/2018 00:00

MaybeDoctor - a good friend of mine got seriously hurt playing mixed hockey when she was tackled by two men at the same time. For both of them it was their first time playing mixed hockey, and they seriously underestimated the impact of the "hit" on her, it wasn't at all malicious. For her it was the last time that she picked up a hockey stick

I sadly don’t think this is going to get better any time soon.
We are all being told that unless we accept the ‘trans movement ‘ then we are small minded and prejudiced.
It’s men isn’t it? It always has been and it probably always will be.
Throughout history women have been abused, tortured, belittled, mocked, treated as second best, given their ‘role’ and expected to abide by it.
Now, we have a new age!
So now men want to be women and women want to be men but it’s still not bloody equal is it?
How in the name of all that’s fucking sensible can a man win a women’s race (or indeed enter it in the first place) because he ‘identifies ‘ as a woman?
What an absolute pile of total shit.
If I ‘identify ‘ as a border collie would I be allowed to enter the sheep dog of the year trials?
Guessing not

ShrodingersSturdyPyjamas · 12/09/2018 06:43

The thing I look at is; who is winning here?

Men.

Men get the scholarships that previously went to women, men get to watch women being battered, men get to batter women 'officially', men get to cheer at how fantastic these new styled 'women' are and how well they are doing against those other cunty types.

What do women get out of it?
I would suggest pain, long term injury, depression, and a reduction in their potential future.

Excellent.

LittleLebowski · 12/09/2018 06:52

Sorry if it's been mentioned - The BBC radio series "The Inquiry" did a show a few days ago presented by Helena Merriman: "is women's sport in trouble?" dealing with this topic www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/w3cswqtr - if you don't have time, the answer was yes, it is.

VickyEadie · 12/09/2018 07:58

I woke in the night gripped with anxiety - about this single issue. I have young elite athletes in my family who train hard and this is going to destroy their hopes and dreams.

And there are women supporting it. I keep posing the same question and those supporting this should be made to sit down and answer it to camera:

Why do we have separate men's and women's sports and events in the first place?

SophoclesTheFox · 12/09/2018 08:11

I keep coming back to this again and again.

I can't let it go. I just can't understand how people can be this stupid.

It plays right into that vein of misogyny that likes to say "Ha! You wanted equality! What, don't you like it? Too bad".

We had just about finally managed to start getting somewhere with women's sports - funding, participation, coverage - and this will shit all over that like it never happened. I don't CARE if it's only one boy, or two boys - it's one or two too many, because this should NEVER HAPPEN AT ALL.

Serious offer: if anyone has a young athlete in their family who is coming up against this sort of nonsense, PM me. I have an idea, and I have money. I've said before that this is the hill I will die on.
