His is one of the very first articles I read in Medium when I first started trying to find info on self ID. He really helped me get my mind around it. I've used some of the arguments he puts forward many times.

Tom does comprehensively own Shon Faye, but I reckon that's not difficult - Shon Faye being the person who wrote an article about being a man who wore make-up, as if he was the first man ever to do so.

(NB Mumsnet - Shon Faye wrote an article when he was a man about being a man who wore make-up. I am not, therefore, 'misgendering' SF, because SF was then describing himself as the man he was).

Shon Faye is still a man. Always will be a man.

I tend to put these disclaimers because I got a 'strike' from Mumsnet for indirectly implying that a newsworthy transwoman had previously been a man.

I knew that! It just pisses me off that I got a strike (and they refused to remove it, even when I argued - I thought - logically) for merely 'implying' a person who was born male 'used to be a man'.
