Why would a bloke who is a compliance officer for the LibDems have 43,000 followers and a blue tick on twitter?

I'm talking about @ KevinMPMcNamara. He was calling women terfs today and clearly some of those replying thought he was an MP.

There was a well known Labour MP called Kevin McNamara who died last year.

He's a prospective Parliamentary MP (Thurrock) and according to his website, he has his fingers in lots of pies and is well connected.

For a longest time you had to have direct contact with Twitter to get a tick. Then they had a few short years where you provided a link to your website and proved that you were respected/an authority in your industry and they would give you a tick.
This was ended over the last year or so.
