Scottish Labour diversity and equality survey

Just had the email come through asking me to fill in the survey on attitudes towards equality and diversity in Scottish Labour.

It, of course, had a question asking about "Gender" with the options of "Man", "woman" and "prefer not to say" but helpfully a little box where you could type a response for when the answer didn't align with the answers provided.

It feels like pissing into the wind, but at least it was an opportunity to have a vent about how they could improve member communication about equality by not accusing members of bigotry for asking questions.

How interesting. Is there anything else of interest in the survey and that might have some bearing on Labour's position on the Gender Recognition Act or the Equality Act?

Does it say what organisation is collecting the data or what it will be used for?

It's not Stonewall by any chance?

The survey is for Scottish labour themselves, but doesn’t detail who their advisory body is. I’d presume it’s in response to all the press they’ve had due to antisemitism. It doesn’t mention the GRA and seems to be concerned with generalised equality and diversity (e.g. asking for suggestions for making sure nominations processes ensure diversity). But whoever designed it has their woke goggles on, based on the gender question and the follow up “are you trans?” type question.

surveyhero.com/c/a60c70d6 hopefully the link works.

Cheers @Minecraft

Yes, the link works and I harrumph at seeing the question about gender rather than sex. Glad to hear you made a point Flowers

The Scottish Labour Party have convened an independent advisory group with activists and external equality experts...etc

I bet that means Stonewall. The survey may be a prelude and a calling card to sell their "training the trainer" products and services.

I notice in the sexual orientation part they've got 'Hetrosexual or Straight'.

I had this on a job form recently and it really annoyed me. First because surely there is no need to put the word 'straight' after hetrosexual and secondly I just find using a word such as 'straight' to be really unprofessional (I would consider it to be slang).
