The pool have written an article about the tweet related to BACP's controversial and ridiculous definition of a woman, in their guidance.

The tweet;

The article;
www.the-pool.com/news-views/opinion/2018/36/BACP-sexist-comments-on-women-and-gender

The article starts reasonably about how the description is nuanced (mmhmm) and is a select cut of wider guidance (mmhmm, right so far) but then it says....

'The screenshots on Twitter – which, I’ve later realised, were predominantly being shared by people with histories of objecting to trans rights and the idea that gender and sex are anything but binary'

And then launches into an attack on anyone gender critical. It even has this gem 💎

'I don't think women should be defined by biology'

weary sigh

The first comment on the fb post is very good. It explains why woman = biologically female adult human and some crime statistics around men and violence.

I know the tide is turning and people are beginning to understand our concerns, but dear lord when will they get there?

Ugh. I’m sick of The Pool. I’ve written to them a few times regarding their stance on self ID and the use of the term “cis” and they just brush it off.

I'm just disappointed, I thought they were good. I used to like their articles but too much of a 'woke' agenda.

That article is straight up lying. Specifically this quote;

The sections screenshotted on Twitter are the ones where Barker is defining how women and men and trans, cisgender and non-binary people are commonly, socially and culturally understood, in order for those ideas to be later dismantled.

No, the part on stereotypes etc was earlier in the document (page 1-17). The screenshot comes from Pg 24 which is within the definitions section. No one is misunderstanding anything, that is exactly what the document defines a woman as.

The document's section on lesbians is also bad (but didn't get screenshoted)

The words ‘lesbian’ and ‘gay’ refer to a monosexual attraction to the ‘same’ gender.

Then there is the inclusion of kink, BDSM, etc. The author seems really keen on this new term of GSRD (Gender, Sexual, and Relationship Diversity) as a replacement for LGBT.
