Boy George

Forgive me, I never start threads. But I am curious. Did anyone see a tweet from Boy George either last night or this morning that may have been GC? I could not access the original tweet because my settings didn't allow me. But by the time I got downstairs and could read properly on my laptop, I could not find the tweet or even the thread. I am sure I did not dream this, did anyone else see anything? And if you did, what the heck did he say? There was fury on the thread from some.

Thank you for indulging me Flowers

He tweeted yesterday about people being more than pro nouns... In response to some "Don't get my pronouns wrong or I'll die" type tweet.

It's on his feed

He and Alison Moyet were (some of) my GNC heroes as a kid.

Glad they still get it

BettyDuMonde · 03/09/2018 18:14

In fact, I have Boy George to thank for my relatively wrinkle free middle aged skin, indirectly anyway.

He told a female friend of mine to never skip on the cleanse/tone/moisturise regime ‘no matter how pissed you are’ and in turn, she passed the advice on to me.

Now whenever someone mentions that I don’t look my age, I tell them that the credit goes to Boy George.

DelilahandDaisy · 03/09/2018 18:15

He posted “be more than just a pronoun” on Friday, I haven’t seen anything else though.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 03/09/2018 18:17

Boy George who seems to have got a pass on what he did to that escort in ?new york a while back?

I dunno.

Having said that people like him, richard o'brien when they speak out in GC maner it def carries more weight.

FlippinFumin · 03/09/2018 18:18

Thank you very much you lovely people. Good for him, and Alison. I am still baffled why my settings prevented me from seeing that tweet, there is nothing rude in it!

He might be frightful IRL but I love him.

FlippinFumin · 03/09/2018 18:38

Me too LanaorAna2. I have loved his music and his attitude of indifference in some interviews. But he is bloody funny!

I suspect he is pretty f The frightful IRL. The last I saw of him was on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. I do appreciate his ability to cut through bullshit and wish he'd do more of it on this issue.

I'd like Grayson Perry to do a documentary too

PerspicaciaTick · 03/09/2018 18:56

Frances Barber seems to be in the process of peaktransing via twitter too.

hackmum · 03/09/2018 18:59

Frances Barber peak transed ages ago! She's been brilliant.

VickyEadie · 03/09/2018 19:03

Boy George was fabulous on 'Who do you think you are?' recently and grew back on me.

LadybirdsAreBirds · 03/09/2018 19:11

Frances Barber is fearless

WaddIelikeapenguin · 03/09/2018 19:37

Another Frances Barber fan Smile

TriptychTwins · 03/09/2018 19:42

I'm following Alison Moyet, Boy George and Frances Barber on Twitter.

They've all been quite vocal and definitely very GC. Have left comments in support of them and not one TRA or any of their followers has said anything. Not so long ago I was getting a fair amount of abuse, but now nada. In fact, it's been the opposite.

People are getting there.

ermygerd · 03/09/2018 21:44

Boy George really was brave and stunning. I read his memoir recently. It took a lot of guts to walk round his council estate dressed like an exotic bird of paradise when he was a teenager in the 70s. Paradoxically it drew the grudging respect of his tough brickie dad, who admired the sheer confrontational quality of it. It's easy to forget when even the people down the tax office have tattoos and rainbow hair nowadays.

George and his contemporaries must be baffled by these humourless literal-minded little berks with their fecking pronouns.

BruceAndNosh · 03/09/2018 21:49

And he still manages to be Boy George.
I'm surprised that TRA s haven't rebranded him as Transgirl George

SciFiFan2015 · 03/09/2018 22:15

I loved (still do) Boy George but I remember having a big discussion with my Mum about him (one of my few, treasured memories about her). I'd seen him on TV and was telling DM that he was a girl, had to be with the clothes and make-up and hair. So my DM asked "Why's he called BOY George then?" My reply - "that's part of the joke Mummy she's put Boy in her name because she's actually a girl"!!!

noeffingidea · 04/09/2018 01:03

I'm surprised that TRA s haven't rebranded him as Transgirl George
I'm sure they would have attempted to trans him if he had died in the last couple of years.

pendeen123 · 04/09/2018 01:07

What is it with the stupid feckin' hat? (Oops sorry loses point of thread)

Batiste · 04/09/2018 01:12

Whats does GC and a TRA mean?

Love Boy George, he was fab on WDYTYA

Vitalogy · 04/09/2018 01:31

What is it with the stupid feckin' hat? (Oops sorry loses point of thread) His style is certainly unique, never seen anyone else with one of those hats, so you've gotta give him that. I like them.

MyRelationshipIsWeird · 04/09/2018 01:46

Vitalogy?!

Boy George
