www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/aug/27/greens-rising-star-quits-deputy-leader-race-after-father-jailed-for

Here it is. Mostly made up of quotes from AC and the Greens.

Buried deep within the web site. Not on the front page or even worthy of a standalone (or whatever it is called on a web site).

MissSusanSays · 27/08/2018 13:08

And the bottom three paragraphs are about the party re-electing their leadership.

It is on the front page of the app, right below the top story.

mobile.twitter.com/guardian/status/1034031416705773571

It's on their Twitter feed if anyone wants to add context.

AngryAttackKittens · 27/08/2018 13:11

And it's utter shit. Behold my shocked face.

MissSusanSays · 27/08/2018 13:16

Agreed, that it is shit. Basic facts and soft peddling excuses. Not exactly hard hitting journalism. Maybe their embarrassment at getting things so wrong is making them bashful- as if.

"Challenor added: “Yes, he was my election agent. This was one of a number of ways I was seeking to reconcile my relationship with my father after coming out of care. On reflection, I can understand that it was unacceptable for me to appoint my dad as my election agent when he had been arrested.”"

But also

Aimee only found out very recently.

So they never asked why he was arrested?
Aimee was never questionied by police which would be very unusual I'd have thought given that they lived in the house where these crimes were being committed - either to get more evidence for that crime / could give info about whether any other children were coming to the house / and presumably they would try to find out if Aimee or other siblings had been victims as well before or in past.

I mean it's nonsense and the lie is right there in their own quote.

I didn't know anything at all until he was convicted (I believe was the claim).
but also
I shouldn't have had him as proposer some time ago.

Why is the Guardian uncritically spouting this stuff (we all know the answer).

Meanwhile Aimee's supporters on twitter are still casting aspersions on DC crimes and naming the victim.

Right side of history indeed.

It is high profile on the app, TerfsUp. But it is weak reporting. Cites AC as a “rising star” (as if they were brilliant) more than once, and describes them as a “trans woman” rather than self-identifying. It also fails to mention the use of the home as GP local HQ! Is this better than nothing though? FS.

With reference to child rape, it's weird that The Green Party needs to state: "There is no place for this abhorrent criminal behaviour in the Green party."

Angryresister · 27/08/2018 15:14

Please can you link the article as I can't find it, thanks

NothingOnTellyAgain · 27/08/2018 16:17

The reference to gender based violence is enraging as it means they believe this child was raped due to how she felt about herslef in her own head. If she'd not had a girl brain maybe things would have been different.

The whole ideology is all over the place.

PeakPants · 27/08/2018 17:06

Utter bull that Aimee only recently found out. There is a screenshot on twitter from Aimee’s Facebook at the time of the arrest which explicitly proves that Aimee was aware and had been visited by the police. So they are printing outright lies.

thebewilderness · 27/08/2018 23:10

It never ceases to astonish me how the NYTimes and the Guardian can turn a piece about a heinous crime against a child into a puff piece on the perp.
