Off with your head...

JellySlice · 25/08/2018 08:13

We were all trans in the 80s. All those young women in suits, in dungarees, in dresses with Doc Martens, with short hair and nails. All those young men in skirts, with long hair and makeup.

Clearly I've never de-transitioned!

StealthPolarBear · 25/08/2018 08:16

:o

witchmountain · 25/08/2018 08:16

Fab outfits. I went for a tux for the last smart thing I went to and thoroughly enjoyed wearing it.

witchmountain · 25/08/2018 08:18

Mainly because I wanted to wear brogues so even more trans Grin

SlipperySlipper · 25/08/2018 08:30

Lady Diana?

Are you misgendering HRH? Shock

MaybeDoctor · 25/08/2018 08:30

Slightly androgynous dressing or styling has always been great fun for women - of all orientations. I can think of examples from most decades of the 20th century. Doesn’t mean that you are ‘trapped in the wrong body’ fgs.

IncrediblySturdyPyjamas · 25/08/2018 08:32

I've apparently been trans since I was about 7 and stopped wearing dresses.

I was once a furry when I wore a fake fur animal suit to a party.

So ahead of the times.

SlipperySlipper · 25/08/2018 08:33

Those tuxes look so much more comfortable than the usual dresses.

MaybeDoctor · 25/08/2018 08:39

Ok, here goes:

1900s - bloomers for bicycling ladies
1910s - WW1 war-work uniform
1920s - flappers with short hair
1930s - ‘slacks’ beginning to be worn
1940s - WW2 war-work uniform
1950s - jeans for women
1960s - pixie cuts and more jeans
1970s - his and hers flares
1980s - all the examples in this thread!
1990s - the workwear trouser suit

BertrandRussell · 25/08/2018 08:45

MaybeDoctor-I was being sort of ironic.....

OP posts:
MaybeDoctor · 25/08/2018 09:00

I know you were! I also know that there has been a trend to re-write certain historical individuals as ‘trans’ so was trying to help illustrate how ludicrous it all is...Smile

PutYourShirtOnMartin · 25/08/2018 09:05

Apparently my 60 yr old husband and 50 yr old me are a queer couple.
DH has long hair and wears eyeliner when we go to gigs ( and Christ he looks bloody good) and I don't own a skirt and only own flat shoes ( I have fallen arches)

It's a load of omnibollocks isn't it???

ChattyLion · 25/08/2018 09:14

So true Jelly. Lovely to see Diana rocking it in the 80s. Charles has always lived true to his best non binary self too.

Lady Diana was a transman.....
PutYourShirtOnMartin · 25/08/2018 09:52

He is so brave and stunning ... 😎

Aeroflotgirl · 25/08/2018 09:53

So because I do not want to adhere to gender stereotypes, and live in my trousers and jumpers, or shirts, I am a transman, hmmm.

ChattyLion · 25/08/2018 10:17

Aero I do like you but also putting on mascara when I can be bothered. so I am defo a brave stunner forging my way through the monochrome world. Glitterball
Oh wait, forgot again. Having the ole vag puts the kibosh on that one. Bugger!
Just a woman wearing you know, some clothes and stuff then. Grin

noeffingidea · 25/08/2018 10:23

Lady Di rocked short hair as well. She did grow it out for a little while, but soon saw sense and had it cut short again.

Stickerladiesoftheworldunite · 25/08/2018 10:27

I wore a waistcoat, shorts and DMs to my brother's wedding when I was 18.

It was quite a look, I tell you and my mother wept Shock

nauticant · 25/08/2018 10:27

There was a lot of it about before things started to go strongly gender conforming a couple of decades back:

AppleKatie · 25/08/2018 10:39

Looks down at self - knee length shorts and a blue hoody. No make up.

Shit am I a man 😮

Does this mean I get a pay rise?

Or at the very least a seat and a half on the tube?

Aeroflotgirl · 25/08/2018 11:38

Chattylion, I also sport short hair too, because I like it, oooh I must be a transman then Grin.

VickyEadie · 25/08/2018 11:41

Looks down at self - knee length shorts and a blue hoody. No make up.

Me: knee-length shorts (men's, in fact), t-shirt (men's, in fact); shortish hair (needs a cut).

That's how I'm doing womaning today. And most days, if truth be told.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 25/08/2018 11:42

Obviosuly Lady Di was a transman.

  • she hung out with kenny everett, famous trans person and part time lesbian.
Yambabe · 25/08/2018 12:16

putyourshirton are you me? My DH also has long hair and is not averse to a bit of eyeliner at gigs. I own one dress (got married in it) and lots of flat shoes (although some of them are sparkly!)

Wahey, we are the new (old) Fox and Owl! Now stop oppressing our non-binary asses you nasty feminists......😉
