Which article is the "offending" one?

Stickerladiesoftheworldunite · 24/08/2018 15:01

Not sure if Feminist Roar is on here but thank you for bringing this to my attention.

My jaw hit the floor.

I think it's Sarah Vine's piece this week on the TG child in school.

Opinion on an issue of concern regarding safeguarding of children = "hate crime" now, apparently.

SingeBuggerCack · 24/08/2018 15:13

But is this actually the police taking it seriously or is it a blanket statement that they’d give to any spurious report?

I think it might be time for women to start reporting things to the police via Twitter. Every lesbophobic comment, every misogynistic comment and rape threat. Time to put things in perspective.

Seriously. If I called the police every time I felt victimised/marginalised by a DM article, I’d never get anything else done.

Stickerladiesoftheworldunite · 24/08/2018 15:16

The police stepping in to control the media.

What about the DM article on David Challenor? That disturbed me. Should I call 101 or close my browser?

The Cops are going to arrest Sarah, I wonder how Michael feels about Maria Miller?

LGBT+ Police UK (@LGBTpoliceuk) Tweeted:
@countrymusogirl @FierceMum We absolutely support the trans community and our Trans colleagues. Anyone who feels victimised by this article we would ask that they report it via 101. twitter.com/LGBTpoliceuk/status/1032879426667773953?s=17

How can you possibly feel victimised by an article? How does that even work? I thought the police were supposed to be far too busy to be dealing with trivia.

BeefTomato · 24/08/2018 15:26

"All hate incidents should be reported" - maybe it's time to start taking them at their word. Starting with the toilet wanker and the "punch a TERF" folk.

Deathgrip · 24/08/2018 15:35

How could anyone feel victimised by that article in particular?

The picture of Ja’mie King was a little below the belt, though...

VickyEadie · 24/08/2018 15:36

Seems to me that the mythical 'right not to be offended' now exists - but only for some sections of the community.

Stickerladiesoftheworldunite · 24/08/2018 15:40

I've seen a few on Twitter deeply offended on behalf of that 'poor' TG. And look.at the crap the person, who boasts about being an ambassador type for LGBT has RTweeted too Angry:

Is that even a real group? Sounds like a joke.

Holy shit, I've just checked on twitter and it's real. They're really truly laughably batshit crazy.

VickyEadie · 24/08/2018 15:55

Ah, the old 'lesbians are also a threat to women and girls, so...' argument.

More proof that too many TRAs have no idea what women and girls are afraid of or what their daily experiences are like.

stillathing · 24/08/2018 15:56

Oh yes because of course sexual assault is about attraction and not power.

Datun · 24/08/2018 15:58

It's brilliant. I wish with all my might that Sarah Vine gets a knock on the door. The woman has got tremendous power and reach.

She would peak trans the entire nation with one flick of her manacled wrist.

TRAs are really not bright.

hackmum · 24/08/2018 16:01

BeefTomato: "All hate incidents should be reported" - maybe it's time to start taking them at their word. Starting with the toilet wanker and the "punch a TERF" folk."

I agree. There's a whole bunch of examples at the moment on the Collating Evidence thread. Plus that particularly vile 'toilet wanker', which is so deeply vicious it surely counts as a hate crime. It's a shame 101 is just a phone service rather than an email one.

PS I still can't believe people would actually phone 101 and say they felt victimised by a Sarah Vine article and the police would take it seriously. What kind of madness is this?

hackmum · 24/08/2018 16:04

One more thought on the toilet guy - the one who wanted to force a girl's head into a bowl of dog piss while anally raping her. Apparently this was a joke and hilariously funny. Suppose he'd added just one word - "trans" - in front of the word "girl", would it still have been a good joke?

BertrandRussell · 24/08/2018 16:05

The picture was a serious error of judgement.

Stickerladiesoftheworldunite · 24/08/2018 16:05

Yup, the poster is definitely barking.

Where do we draw the line between free speech, the reporting of news, opinion and the offended few?

Censorship gives me the rage (as does trampling over our rights) so the two together are just a toxic marriage.
