I have a real sense that social anxiety is leading to worse treatment for women, and unless we can solve our social issues we may be in Handmaid's Tale territory.

The verbal and written attacks derive mostly from men. That’s probably not a coincidence. Studies show that climate skepticism is a male-dominated perspective. Men are less likely than women to accept scientific conclusions about people being responsible for rising temperatures. And they’re more likely to overestimate their knowledge of the issue

It's so so sad. Public discourse is mortally damaged and I think that in the USA (where this article emanates from), Trump has a lot to answer for. He has legitimised ignorance, lies, racism and misogyny. I think it will take that country years to recover from the blow his election caused to their democracy

We live in "interesting times" that is for sure.

What most women are not aware of though, is that women's rights are not those of linear progression - periodically they get wound back.

I live in the US and am just now beginning to realize how much of male culture here is based on denial and fantasy. Women are seen as the emotional and illogical ones, while men can handle harsh facts. Pfft. They sure can't handle facts that clash with their narcissism and lust for status.
