Surrogacy

Just watched Tom Daley on the One Show talking about surrogacy and promoting his new book. Whilst talking about the surrogacy he was asked about their relationship with the surrogate and I may be wrong but I didn't hear him say she, her, the mother once. Angry

Surrogates don't like being called 'the mother'. It is usually their worst fear to be 'the mother'.

I hadn't thought of that Heart. I did feel like he was desperately trying to not identify her as female though. I think he used they, when she seemed more appropriate.

This was discussed about a month ago and ran to well over 1000 posts dragging down reputations, ruining lives and destroying the economies of several small countries in its wake.

You might want to look those threads up and marvel at how angry it is possible for people to get with one another on t'Internet.

Well it resulted in me shouting at the telly "she's a woman", scared the dog enough to run from the room. Thanks for engaging. I do remember that thread, just thought Daly might have learned something from the responses, naive me.

Why would he not want to identify her as a woman? I completely understand not calling her the mother as that just isn't done in surrogacy, on either side. But not wanting to say 'she'? I can't think why not.
