There is some new schools guidance coming down the line that contains deeply regressive and unscientific messages about gender identity. This time aimed specifically at primary school aged children as part of their relationship and sexual health education.

The 'highlights' are set out in this Twitter thread: twitter.com/Scottish_Women/status/1028744266498158594

You can view the full draft guidance here: rshp.scot/ (look at the drop down box entitled 'Levels').

Please consider writing to your kids' headteacher, parent council, local councillors, MSPs (remember you have one constituency MSP and several 'list' MSPs).

There are contact email addresses on the RSHP website too. Smile

The guidance is due to be used in schools next year.

So according to their site:

Prestwick Acad
Stranraer Acad
Sexual Health, Ayrshire

Could be more, I prob only recognise the larger towns from the list

Thanks for this. 👍

I want to do something about this but don't know where to begin. Not sure how to make how I feel and all the things I'm worried about make sense on paper and not just sound like a sleep deprived rant (2.5yo and a newborn).

The thought of my little ones starting school in a few years is hard enough without worrying about crap like this.

houseofsix You can start by contacting your MSP ( and those on the list) and raise your concerns. I find that a face to face works better than a letter or an email. There is a lot of info online that you can take with. Feel free to DM me

I live in East Ayrshire, and work in both East Ayrshire and East Renfrewshire.

Will risk my blood pressure and read the linked information now.

Maggie Mellon has done some great work on named person, so glad she is on this. The guidelines for 8 year olds are possibly even more disturbing than the P1 ones which were reported one Scotsman etc. I think it's worth checking with schools as well and registering disquiet.

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 16/08/2018 22:49
